Nothing at all.

My brother-in-law, however, is a different story.

He was pretty badly hurt in an at-work accident in April. He had worked at the job less than a year. Disability and all that has been pretty good to him, and he can spend his days with his young son. Recovery has been such that everyday life is not a problem, but he certainly can't go back to work yet.

Today there is a knock at his door. It's the president of his company. "What could he possibly want" was his first thought. Then Mr. President hands him over a $500 Christmas bonus. "No tax on this one" he says, "This is from me not [company]." Merry Freakin' Christmas!!

A boot voucher.

Since I've always pictured that you're employed as a tough-but-lovable train station prostitute, I'm going to imagine that's street lingo for a free beatdown from your pimp's goons.

So congrats on that!

At my job we are forbidden to take money from the residents. At the end of the year the residents give money to the employees that is divided up among the people who earn and hourly wage. I've only been working part time there since early August and got about $60. Only problem is that because it's done officially through one of the entities at my job it's a taxed check which kinda sucks. But I made the hire cut off for even being eligible for the bonus by a few weeks so I'm glad I got anything.

After reading how many folks got scrooged this year, I'm a little embarrassed to say I received a bonus that equalled 10% of my salary.

Christmas Eve off. Actually only reason is because per our union/mgmt contract we get a paid holiday and since Xmas fell on a Sat, we were given Friday off.

Our gift from the company was 1/2 a work day Thurs while they paid us for the other 4 hours.

Used to get a full months salary as a Christmas bonus with my old job - it was sweet!
Now, nothing.
