Does anyone know where we stand on the wrestling Deathclock? I'm guessing we are about halfway to 90 days. Who was the last to die - was it Giant Gonzalez or Luna?

Also on that date.
After making his debut in Florida Championship Wrestling, Skip Young originally wrestled as the masked Sweet Brown Sugar winning the NWA Southern Heavyweight Championship three times between 1979 and 1982
After leaving the Florida region in 1984, Young began wrestling unmasked in the Texas-area where he began teaming with "Pistol" Pez Whatley

As a heads up, I'm going to make some rules for the Wrestling Death Clock:
1) The dead wrestler should have worked for one of the four main promotions during the last 30 years - WWF/E, WCW, ECW, or TNA. It should have been a prolonged run, not just a tryout match or a cup of coffee. Indy wrestlers don't count. Sorry.
2) The dead wrestler is under the age of 60. That's why King Curtis doesn't count.
3) Cause of death - the stigma of the Wrestling Death Clock is that the business chews you up and spits you out, so death like drugs, suicide, heart attack from enlarged heart because of drugs, etc. are acceptable. If the wrestler dies of cancer or something that isn't related to the business, a possible exception can be made. I call it the Earthquake Rule.
Any thoughts on this?

Sweet 'n' Sour Larry Sweeny (1981 – 2011)
http://i.imgur.com/YFdQU.jpg
Independent wrestler and manager Larry Sweeney passed away either late last night or early this morning. He was 29.
Sweeney (born Alex Whybrow) committed suicide by hanging himself at a wrestling school in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
He began wrestling in 2004 after training under Mike Quackenbush, Skayde and Chris Hero and CHIKARA’s Wrestle Factory and further training from the late “Playboy” Buddy Rose and Col. DeBeers in Oregon.
While Sweeney worked in a variety of independent organizations across the country he was most well known for his work in his home promotion of CHIKARA and Ring of Honor.
In CHIKARA Sweeney led a stable known as Sweet ‘n’ Sour International and captured the Young Lions Cup, among various other ventures.
He joined Ring of Honor in 2006 and led another stable, this one simply called Sweet ‘n’ Sour, Inc. He managed a variety of talents including his former trainer Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli, Eddie Edwards, Sara Del Rey, Bobby Dempsey, Tank Toland and Matt Sydal, among others.
In April 2009 he left Ring of Honor, citing monetary issues.
He made a brief return to CHIKARA in late 2010 as the masked Vokodor, but it did not lead to a full time return to action.
Whybrow battled depression his entire life and encountered drug issues later in his life, which also affected his wrestling career. Apparently his problems only worsened once he left the spotlight he had encountered as a part of CHIKARA and especially Ring of Honor.
Unfortunately, the only time he spent with the WWE was here, playing the role of fake Nick Hogan:

no updates must mean hes ok
Kevin Nash recently wrote about the health status of Scott Hall, here is what he had to say…
"Over the last few weeks, since the horrifying New England appearance of Scott Hall, my Twitter page has blown up with plea's to help Scott. First of all, nobody has to ASK me to help Scott Hall. I consider Scott like a brother. He's much more than a friend. I have spent more time with Scott Hall in the last 18 years than I have with my wife in the 23 years we've been married. We have no secrets between each other. This is ‘real life'. Nobody knows what Scott has gone thru since early childhood to what he has gone thru up unto this point, except for me. I can tell you Scott Hall has neither a drug or alcohol addiction, Scott's problem is he suffer's from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Drugs and alcohol aren't the problem, to Scott they are the solution. He is a fragile and broken human being, not a race horse that you take a whip to to perform. Scott Hall is in bad shape and each time I talk to him I feel it may be the last. It's gotten to the point where I save his voice mails, much like I would've saved Andrew's (Tess), because I knew sometimes when I heard his message it could be the last. The media will want to blame wrestling when Scott passes. Scott was broken way before he broke into the ring for the first time."
Sounds really bad.

I was going to research whether any Super Bowlers from that year were dead, but they saved me the trouble.
As wrestlinginc.com points out, none of the 44 starters from the Super Bowl played in 1991 have passed away and only two of 44 boxers who held a championship belt that year are gone.
The is the most impressive piece of journalism (wrestling or otherwise) I've read all year.

No. The reason why the clock was made up in the first place was exactly for the reason Kevin said - a lot of wrestlers were dying before the age of 60 from various things - in other words, dying very early.
I'm not sure what age qualifier we put on there, but the clock is reset when a wrestler dies "young" from something other than a disease he had no control over getting (the Earthquake rule).

I tend to agree. I feel bad for his family and his friends but the user assumes the risk when he does drugs. And for the record, I'm for the legalization of all drugs. But I also understand that when you do drugs you run the risk of ruining your life or dying. No sympathy for him. For his family, yes. I hate that they're grieving right now.

This is dead on. There's only so much you can do for an addict. At the end of the day the person using drugs needs to want to get clean. Unfortunately many never get there. As for his family I feel horrible.

So you think he would not have had a better shot at not being on drugs if flair didnt spend all his time partying and wasting money?

Maybe, maybe not.. Hard to say. Addicts turn hardcore drugs as an escape from life not being fair or because they were tight with a group of friends and just doing what the crowd did. All it takes is one to introduce it, and a few enablers. Been there done that. Being an impressionable youth has its risks. Took many trips to Kensington and Allegheny in my youth and you can ask Skeet.. You don't drive there to buy recreational drugs. I was one of the logical ones and noticed the road I was heading down and quit my faggotry cold turkey and delt with my boohoo life sucks problems myself. I tried getting some of my other `friends' out of it and they wanted none of it and resorted to mocking and insults. So I ditched em.. Fuck em.. They all became professional lying, cheating, excuse making pieces of shit. "Never trust a junkie" is the truth.. There comes a point that they are helpless and will end up stealing from their own mothers for the next fix. My own aunt did it to my grandmother.. You know how I visit my aunt? Search her name on Arizonas inmate websites. Junkies are just wired different.. They are flat.. There is nothing there.. Just cold dark soulless eyes.. If the devil exists.. I've seen it countless times.. Looking into a junkies eyes is one of the soulless things you can look at.

So you think he would not have had a better shot at not being on drugs if flair didnt spend all his time partying and wasting money?
Maybe he would still be but maybe not..
Complete coin toss. My parents have always been there for us. My dad is the kind of guy that if he had $10, hed give it to his kids and borrow another $20 from someone else and give that to them to. Always there, taught their kids right from wrong, never neglected us.
Personally, Ive tried pot about 3 times, extasy once and thats the extent of my drug use. My sister smoked pot recreationally for awhile, took a pill here and there and thats it. Neither one of us touch drugs now. My brother? Pot, pills, coke, crack, and heroin. Never finished high school. 30 years old, cant hold a job, acts like hes 16, currently living with friends after getting kicked out for stealing my parents clothes and selling them to Platos Closet. Swears up and down he doesnt have a drug problem though and has no intention of trying to get help.

I have never really been around anyone with hard drug use so I am going to take everyones that has, word for it.
I myself will never try a drug harder than weed because I just do not know how it will effect me.
Better be safe than sorry when drugs are involved.
