Tonight is TNA's biggest PPV of the year and quite possibly the last chance they have at proving themselves worthy of continuing. A lot is riding on how this show plays out. Will the payoff to the "Deception" storyline that features Nash, Sting, and Pope which ties into who "They" are live up to it's hype? Who will make surprise debuts? Will this be the last night we see EV2.0? What will be Team 3D's announcement? With the crowning of a new TNA World Heavyweight Champion tonight, will it be Hardy's first ever title reign in TNA, the rise of Mr. Anderson to his full potential, the end of the long arduous road for Kurt Angle, or his final curtain call?
Here's the lineup for tonight:
TNA World Tag Team Championship: Motor City Machine Guns (c) vs Generation ME
This will be the opening contest according to TNAwrestling.com and is sure to be a spotfest but hopefully not too much of one so that there are still enough surprises for the other matches. It will be a good match, but it won't be the end of the Machine Guns title reign. I see Team 3D coming out to make their announcement following the victory and congratulating MCMG.
Monster's Ball - Abyss vs Rob Van Dam: Storyline wise this match is supposed to be Abyss's last as Dixie Carter signed papers that Eric Bischoff informed her was his release papers. However, I see a twist in that one piece of brief storyline with it being revealed she signed her own release from the company or something to that effect where power now goes to Eric Bischoff. Abyss should not lose his own type of match in order to continue his monster heel rampage which albeit has been cartoonish at times but if the payoff with him being the enforcer of whomever "They" are, RVD will not win this match.
Orlando Jordan & Eric Young vs Ink Inc.: Don't care
Handicap Match: Sting, Kevin Nash, & D'Angelo Dinero vs Samoa Joe and Jeff Jarrett: Hogan was originally supposed to be the third man in that team but due to unfortunate back surgery, he is not able to be there tonight. "They" will turn out to be Jeff Jarrett and Samoa Joe w/Bischoff and his security team for these reasons: Jarrett was originally humiliated by Bischoff making him flip burgers and clean out toilets...then all of a sudden he was okay with him. He feuded with Sting because Sting was getting close to the truth. Samoa Joe was kidnapped mysteriously and then returned in full bad ass form. Something's telling me that Bischoff got to them and brought them in on his plan to take TNA away from Carter and back into the hands of the founder, lead by a man who lost his former company to make a comeback, and using Joe and Abyss as an investment for their plan to go through. It'll turn out that Sting, Pope, and Nash were right all along. Nash, since his contract is done and he's announced he's not coming back, will be written out saying he no longer wants any part of TNA wrestling. Sting will feud with Abyss once more and Pope will work a program with Joe.
TNA World X-Division Championship: Jay Lethal (c) vs Douglas Williams
The title has changed hands at live shows between Red and Jay to promote the idea of you never know what's going to happen in the X-Division. Jay is seeking to make sure that he ends his beef once and for all with the guy who screwed him out of the X-Division title originally and then went on to join Fortune. By defeating Douglas Williams, Jay will be the top guy in the X-Division which nowadays isn't saying much but if anyone can breathe new life into it, it's Jay. Let's hope they take whatever momentum comes from this match (if it's not just a throwaway match).
TNA Knockouts Championship: Angelina Love vs Velvet Sky vs Tara vs Madison Rayne w/special guest referee Mickie James
The winner of this match is going to work a program with Mickie James for the Knockouts title. My pick is Tara. Her reasoning will be that she got Rayne to get her reinstated so she can get closer to a title match. When she gets the title, she dumps Rayne and leaves her to the she-wolves. Those two can work real well together and put some spark back in the division. Let the Beautiful People feud with Madison Rayne.
Lethal Lockdown: Fortune vs EV2.0
These two stables have been feuding since they made themselves public as teams. Flair is promoting the future of TNA in his stable. Foley is gathering his hardcore army to beat respect into the members of Fortune. Both sides have shown they can be pretty hardcore in their matches. EV2.0 have been 0-3 in matches against them. It's time for them to pick up a victory and then be on their way. Let Richards and Rhino remain as full time roster members.
TNA World's Heavyweight Championship: Mr. Anderson vs Jeff Hardy vs Kurt Angle
Angle made a personal stipulation that if he doesn't win he'll retire. It's not contractually obligated or anything like that. So here's how I see it going down. Jeff Hardy will do a big spot and miss to take himself out of the match. Kurt Angle will go to check on Hardy. Anderson will capitalize on the moment and become the new World Heavyweight Champion revealing himself to truly be the asshole he says he is and join Bischoff, Joe, Jarrett and Abyss proclaiming to be the new face of TNA Wrestling.
Aftermath:
- Sting will fight Abyss to get to Jarrett
- Samoa Joe will work a program with D'Angelo Dinero
- Team 3D will announce they are either retiring, breaking up, or recruiting a new Team 3D Army
- Fortune will not be too affected by the loss and may end up kicking some members out with AJ taking charge in more of a leadership role, Morgan staying an enforcer, Kaz and Williams getting the boot and Beer Money remaining.
- Dixie Carter will convince Kurt Angle to come out of retirement and lead an army of TNA wrestlers to stop Bischoff. Jarrett will see the error of his ways and turn on Bischoff down the line. The status quo will eventually return to only one person in charge of TNA.
