Wow. How many shows did you see, after the credits, this guy typing at his typewriter, and then throwing the paper into his "C" trademark. So many of his shows I watched, and still quote.

Haha, they fucked up 3 takes by forgetting to put a monitor on top of that workstation.

Yea, he'd pop into his shows everyone once in a while. I just saw him recently in an episode of Castle playing himself.

And as Dutch Dixon on Renegade.

I grew up on a lot of his shows.

Skin cancer, what a waste. From what I've read about him, he seemed to be a genuinely nice guy.

Further gets a shout out on the show too.

So here's my question...

Is Spelling to Women as Cannell was to men?

If you line up their roster of shows, there's some pretty iconic stuff in there.

Is Spelling to Women as Cannell was to men?

You know, that's a pretty good question. I hadn't considered that before.

Cannell gets the edge for writing: young David Chase (Sopranos) wrote for him.

That's an interesting comparison. According to IMDB, Spelling had 200+ production credits. And although many of them came and went fast, it looks like his shows skewed more to the female side, especially from the 1990's on. But he did have TJ Hooker, Matt Houston, Charlie's Angels (I guess that could go either way), Starsky And Hutch, Vega$ and SWAT.

UNSUB was Cannell? Wow, that was CSI before CSI, especially since it had William Peterson.

He was a frequent guest on The Adam Carolla Show and I've always enjoyed his appearances. Funny, relaxed, smart, and extremely confident. Every interview was gold.

I likes listening to him more than almost any comedian & actor.
R.I.P.

It was a TV show from 1993-1994, not the Sylvester Stallone movie.

I know one of my favorites:

Supermarket Killer: Get back! I got a bomb here! I'll blow this whole place up!
Marion Cobretti: Go ahead. I don't shop here.
