BioShock Infinite is an upcoming first-person shooter video game, and the third game in the BioShock series. Previously known as "Project Icarus", it is being developed by Irrational Games for a 2012 release on the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. BioShock Infinite is not a direct sequel/prequel to previous BioShock games, taking place at a previous time and different setting, though features similar gameplay concepts from these games. The player controls a former Pinkerton agent, Booker DeWitt, as he attempts to rescue a woman trapped aboard the collapsing air-city Columbia in 1912. The game marks the return of developer Irrational Games to the helm after their very noticeable departure from the series after the original BioShock smash hit. I think this looks friggin awesome.

So far, the initial trailer has been released as well as a 10min. gameplay demo which is discussed in this months (October) issue of Game Informer. Check out both below and come back to this thread for updates.

The reviews for this game are outstanding. I'm now looking forward to it.

I'm psyched, and I just finished Tomb Raider which I really really liked and would've been bummed to walk away from early to play Bioshock.

wow...totally forgot I started this thread two and a half years ago. Can't wait to pick this up after work tomorrow. Sorry to say I won't be at the midnight release party, but another few hours of waiting isn't going to kill me.

Tomb Raider was really good. Really only a few nit picking complaints....but overall a really solid game. Amost bummed I won't be able to squeeze in a complete second play through before Bioshock just takes over my existence.

I'm just gonna go back and hit the tombs I missed.

Those were fun. I had a save game that was 92% complete...I went back to pick up the relics and other items I missed which included one final tomb. God damned save file freezes every time I try to play it now, so I started over on the harder difficulty. I'm too early on to get through it all before tomorrow. I'm actually thinking about trading it in so I can get a good amount off on Infinite.

I also just beat Tomb Raider. That was a fantastic game.

I preordered the new god of war, but I think I might wait to pick that up and grab Bioshock instead.

Racism you say? Are they dropping N bombs in the floating city of Columbia?

I haven't heard that yet, but I'm only an hour and a half in and I've heard just about every other racial epithet. And even those didn't start until one jarring moment a half hour in.

I love it so far. It's not pulling any punches. There wasn't much racially enlightened thinking in 1912.

True true....I guess it should be expected too, since there is a struggle occouring between two or more classes of people living in Columbia as you start the game. I know Vox Populi is one and the....Nationalists? something like that. I think I'm picking this up on Friday so I can enjoy it the whole weekend without worrying about playing straight through the next day haha.

I finished this yesterday and it has dominated my mind ever since. The ending, and the whole story really, is completely brilliant. The more I think about it the more I piece together various metaphors and plot threads which make me appreciate it even more. That it managed to accomplish everything it did with the potential pitfalls of where the plot eventually goes is even more of a testament to how great this game is. I don't think there is anything about this game I would change.

I loved it and could not recommend it more. I think this is the best game I've ever played.

Jeeeeezus Hbox.....you beat the game already? That's insane. Is it a short game or did you just simply not put the controller down?

It isn't a long game. My playthrough time was 9 hours and I didn't fully explore everything. But yeah, I spent most of Tuesday and Wednesday playing it. I've been sick this week and haven't had much else to do. And the game is fucking awesome.

9 hours is pretty good....I tend to almost over explore things, so it will probably take me a bit longer. Glad to hear you enjoyed it since we've obviously been waiting a really long time to play this thing....so many delays. I was going to wait until I got paid tomorrow to pick this up, but I might just go grab it after work.

hope you feel better soon.

Finally picked this up yesterday. So far it's really good...I get a bit confused as to where enemies are attacking from at times, but the story is interesting and the different powers are pretty cool. The graphics are pretty outstanding as well.

I felt like a genius when I got this though. I had five dollars on the reserve, and brought in 4 games to trade towards it. I even got the 20 dollar season pass for the game too and after all that, and my trade ins, Gamestop still owed me .31 cents. haha...I paid -31 cents for a brand new game.

Once I got used to the idea that I couldn't work a board from cover, or moving from cover to cover, the combat made a lot more sense. Every battle is just a cluster, and it helps so much if you're mixing your vigors and weapons.

Really a triumph in story telling in this medium, was totally compelling. One of the few games I've ever played where wanting to reveal the story and explore the world pushed me forward as much as the gameplay itself. Challenging but not frustrating because it stays fun the whole time.

My only two complaints are sometimes the controls were a bit wonky and confused. And sometimes it was hard to tell where you're supposed to be going and if the linear path to your objective is going to clear an area or if I should be doing that on my own. Sometimes I knocked out an area and it was a good thing, sometimes I just preemptively cleared an area ahead of goals taking me there. Directions are especially tough when the skyline is involved.

I want to play again to mix up my weapons and vigors more, I stuck pretty heavily to the carbine and shock jockey.

agreed....my foward motion got delayed a few times during some of the fights with the Handymen, which caused some frustration. Backtracking to areas after completing a task via skyline had me confused a couple of times as well, and I also cleared the entire area towards the end before I entered Comstock House wich was apparently out of turn from the intended path.

I was also frustrated that absolutely none of the clips that were released before the game came out were in the actual game play. Also, Elizabeth displayed some powers in those clips that were cut and I was annoyed by those decisions.

Dug it. Not sure I like the infinite loop ending but I understand it. I prefer 1 and 2 (I found 2 highly underrated) and Dishonored but this was good

Also the shooting mechanic was so poorly implimented an Auto Aim would have been apriciated

I got very used to the shooting mechanic and I'm not crazy about auto aim. Like in GTA I feel like I'm just tabbing between targets and pulling the trigger, it isn't that fun to me. Also, I only noticed this with the machine gun, but by upgrading the spread reduce I think it also added a slight sticky targeting because the reticle would track moving targets on its own.

I prefer Infinite to the first two Bioshocks because I found the pacing unenjoyable, I'd get frustrated on Big Daddy fights. I like the more cluster fucks of varying degrees approach in infinite.

You enjoyed Dishonored? I was really looking forward to it and was pretty disappointed. The stealth stuff and his powers were cool, but the story was so predictable and for a game that really promoted an open world, and multiple venus to reach every goal, it felt really linear. I really didn't like the "go fetch and return" set up to the missions either. Got good value for it in trade though when I picked up Tomb Raider.

The first DLC is short but good. It's cool to see Rapture through the lens of Infinite.
