You must set the ad_network_ads.txt file to be writable (check file name as well).

And I don't really know why. It was working fine till the other day when the sound just stopped.

I'm an idiot when it comes to technology. Any advice? Troubleshooting?

Nevermind. I restarted it again and this time windows updated something and it's working again. Not sure why that happened. But it works. So good.

The first simple thing I'd try is going to System Restore and look for a restore point that is before the time your sound stopped working.
