Windows 7 Professional for $29.99. Office 2010 for $79.99 (http://www.microsoft.com/student/en/us/default.aspx).

I think I might get an extra copy of 7 just to keep around when my daughter gets her email address at college.

It doesn't mention it on the main page, but when you click on the fine print (http://www.microsoft.com/student/office/en-us/terms.aspx), it looks like the Win 7 license is actually for an upgrade, not the full version. It's still cheaper than retail, but if you need an existing XP/Vista license, it's of limited utility.

That's slightly disappointing, but not too much. If I use it, it won't be for a new computer build. I'd be using it on one of my comps that already have XP.
