does anyone remember those old "cross on the green, not in between" commercials. It shows a hit and run accident, and kids in the bkground are chanting "cross on the green . . ." They were to stop people from running red lights
i swear to god this commercial scared the hell outta me when i was a kid. i used to have to leave the room when it was on.

For some reason, I associate this commercial with the old kid's show "Wonderama" with good old Bob McAllister.
There was a song that went with it too, right?

they were playing jump rope, and it always reminded me of the Nightmare on Elm Street girls chanting..."1-2 Freddys comin for you. 3-4 better lock your door. 5-6 grab your crucifix. 7-8 better stay up late. 9-10 never sleep again."

Kids cross the street because they are usually stapled to the chicken.
Oh. That old gag.

i thought it was about people running red lights, cause at the end, they say "people who run red lights must be stopped"

They should be stopped...by any means necessary. Just call me Malcolm X at Green.
The joke only works if you read the X as "cross".
God, I'm explaining bad jokes on the messageboard. I'm pathetic.

I remember "cross at the green, not in between" and kids said it in different languages. This was about the same time as "The Rubella Umbrella" ads.
