Until this week, OPD's response time to service calls was about 15 minutes, while comparably populated CA cities average about 5. This is due to an overworked police force. This week, the city took a bold move and laid off 80 officers. That'll help your little slice of Gomorrah. I will not go near that town.

After the 80 man cut, OPD announced they will no longer respond to non-emergency calls. Two things to remember: Mehserle worked for BART police, not OPD, and the 4 officers that were brutally murdered trying to apprehend a very dangerous criminal last year did work for OPD, and after those murders, the media ran with tons of man-on-the-street interviews of people from the neighborhood who were saying that they didn't care about the officers' deaths, that they deserved it, and that they understand why the criminal murdered them. If I worked for OPD, I would have applications in at departments all over the country, because it has to be the worst city to work for.

Just imagine if you worked in a city where the citizens are standing around laughing like jackals at a pregnant woman getting kicked in the stomach, and then when officers show up on the scene and one is knocked off of his bike by a car, they sit there and laugh and say "Fuck the Police!". What kind of shit town is that. It is absolute garbage, and deserves to whither away like it will.
