The tomatoes are finally coming in DC - we pick the bigger ones a little earlier because the deer and rabbits seem to know when they start ripening...

If you had said something like "Those tomatoes look strangely like bananas", you would have scored some points here.

Fucking classic.

I'd love to know the backstory of that clap. Damn, do I hope that actually aired and that wasn't just a joke tape they made that didn't air.

OK, I looked it up, and my illusions were shattered:

Marr said it was a prank. Marr and Weaver were pre-recording a segment from Seattle in 1982, when the pair flubbed a take of the Manager's Corner. They got to laughing and decided to record an entire fake segment and send it back to the station engineer as a joke.

The dialogue was all off-the-cuff and off-the-air. Weaver didn't have to try very hard to act like an old cuss. The engineer, of course, got a kick out of it, and the listeners heard a different, sanitized version of the segment before Sunday's ballgame.

How many tomato plants do you have? I didn't think they could grow in just a milk jug?? aren't the roots looking for more space?

theres 3 tomato plants in each jug, plus each has a strawberry plant,a bell pepper plant and a cucumber plant,i cut slits in two sides of the jugs and put plants in each. because the plants are fighting for root and sunshine space they grow like crazy and are putting out veggies at a fantastic rate now,i'm up to 7 cherry tomatos and a full tomato a day now plus a strawberry every other day,the cucumbers and pepper plants havent gotten big enough yet but they're loaded and in about a week i'll be picking them also

And here's my last batch of tomatoes - notice all the bhuts in the upper right. I'm clearing out the tomato plants tomorrow - they are done. It was a great season in DC.
