Help with a non-laser printer

I have an HP Presario laptop and I'd like a printer. I am WELL AWAY that most printers outlive their ink cartrtidges, I was hoping a techie could lead me the to a BASIC, reliable (NOT STATE of the art) that can print out tax receipts, RESUMES, and other serious business while being able to handle an occasional God-awful make-shift birthday card. ;-)

Oh, we are also dealing with ICE but we hired an abrogado to help with us.

We'd like to spend $75 to $80s (sorry if the asking price is cute but I had access to a beautiful laser printer until I got canned a week ago.

I am negotiable.

You can pick up basic printers at most stores for $40 or less. And... If you have a Walgreens nearby, many of the ink cartridges can be refilled very inexpensively. And by "basic", I mean way better than what you need for printing out simple documents.
