The contest sucked this year because no one can challenge Joey Chestnut. Kobiyashi was kept out due to a contract dispute, from the article it looks like they want him to agree to a 1 year no compete. When people were chanting for him he tried to jump on stage and was arrested.

These guys are total scum bags. The only reason anyone started paying attention to the contest was because of the novelty of these thin japanese kids kicking ass. I would guess the idea behind the no compete is from July 4 to July 4 you can only do their events, and I'd assume not get any kind of salary beyond prize money, which seems really unfair. They want to own him without paying for him.

They said he spent the night in jail because it was a holiday and he couldnt get a hearing. Otherwise he would've been out same day. Although to actually have him arrested is insane considering the history he has there.
