Has anyone seen this amazing documentary? Part of ESPN's 30 For 30 Series. I caught it the other night and it was one of the best docs I've seen in a long time.

While rival drug cartels warred in the streets and the country’s murder rate climbed to highest in the world, the Colombian national soccer team set out to blaze a new image for their country. What followed was a mysteriously rapid rise to glory, as the team catapulted out of decades of obscurity to become one of the best teams in the world. Central to this success were two men named Escobar: Andrés, the captain and poster child of the National Team, and Pablo, the infamous drug baron who pioneered the phenomenon known in the underworld as “Narco-soccer.” But just when Colombia was expected to win the 1994 World Cup and transform its international image, the shocking murder of Andres Escobar dashed the hopes of a nation.

Through the glory and the tragedy, The Two Escobars daringly investigates the secret marriage of crime and sport, and uncovers the surprising connections between the murders of Andres and Pablo.

I saw it and loved it. I think it was the best of their docs so far. it had much more information about the state of columbia at the time politically then i expected.

i was also shocked at the footage they had from down there in 93-94. police videos of murders, and inside looks at the way the cartels were ran.

i missed the 1st 30 mins, so I am going to DVR this weekend.

Really good show. My chick isnt into sports, let alone South American soccer, but she liked it too. She was crying by the end.
I was surprized how in depth it was about the cartels. Until this doc, I always thought of Los Pepes as the good guys but this showed a whole different angle.

If you liked this doc, you should definitely read this book. Fucking awesome.

I think they made a doc on the History Channel out of this, and a movie based on it is on the way.
