Grow up in any hayseed fundamentalist church, and you'll hear stories about how some church got blown into firewood by a tornado, but a Bible or a picture of Jesus or something like that was left undamaged. So I think this sort of thing might actually plant the tiniest seed of doubt in those people's minds.

Besides, I always thought that those stories made God kind of sound like an asshole. "Oh, you let this storm destroy property, including a lot of homes, and you spared a book that you can steal from any fleabag motel in the country? Thanks a lot, douche."
