Who are all these jerks who think moving as a young kid is a bad thing? It's awesome.

I was in one school until 2nd grade then was shipped to Europe for 4 years. Came back to the USA and was in one school for 7th grade and then moved to the other side of the state for 8th grade. Then comes highschool, then moved again for college.

It's good stuff. Makes it easier for you to meet people, makes you more outgoing, and makes you want to travel more when older.

I think it's a shitty thing to do to a kid to have them go to a new school and make new friends. I was even upset when some of my friends moved away when I was around 12.

For a few rare people like yourself it's a good thing, for the majority it's a shitty thing to do to your kids.

For the military brats I know, it was no big deal. For my Dad, he turned down job opportunities because he didn't want my brother and me to have to keep readjusting and making new friends. Personally, I would have been glad to move around.

My wife and I are total opposites on this. My mother still lives in the house that I was raised in (I never moved as a child but made up for it by going across the country for colege). My wife's father was in the Amry so she has been all over, including Europe. But to answer the question I don't think it's that big a deal either way.

I was a military brat, moved about every 6 or 7 years when I was growing up. We lived on bases for most of it, so even if we hadn't moved, all of my friends would have moved.

I wouldn't change it at all. I meet people in their 20s who have never been on an airplane, and could never imagine moving somewhere else. The first move sucks, but after you get used to it, it's not a big deal. You can make friends anywhere you go.
