He's in that all time great's ruined by injuries category. But I love the man, he really contributed a lot to the game.

He's still better than that filthy degenerate Steve Sax.

Funny that his closest contemporary Frank Thomas suffered a very similar fate.

if not for injuries could very well be the home run king
Wow an embarrassing end to a great career.
Seriously. He should have done a "farewell tour" this year to get the applause he deserves.

too bad this retirement was overshadowed by a bad call by an Umpire...

But the man had clean sideburns. Not like that hippy Mattingly.
Hes my favorite player of all time. The guys swing was a work of art. Going to Cincinatti just doomed him.

good quote from A-Rod, thought I'd pass it along:
“He could literally be playing Nintendo at 6:45 or 6:50, and at 7:06 he’d make a Spiderman catch,” Alex Rodriguez said. “And then in the (bottom) of the first he’d hit one in the upper deck at the Kingdome, 475 feet. And do it all with a smile. You look at yourself and you’re like, ‘Damn. I’ve been getting ready since 5:45 for the game.’ I wish you guys had the opportunity to see what I saw for seven years."

I hated the guy when he was in his prime.
But he was damn good.
That 90s M's lineup was the most feared lineup for me in my life time.
Even before Arod.
Jr, Edgar, Buhner, Tino when he was there, Pesky Cora, Dan Wilson.
Fucking nightmere. I was never comfertable in any games vs them.
Then Arod came up and hit 35hrs 54 doubls 123 rbis at 20. They replaced Tino with Sorrento... Just nasty.

I always liked him. Was always a class act, and such a good player. He was one of the players that when you were a kid you could look up to.
Though, I didn't like him in that one movie where he beat the team. I think it was the one where the kid became manager of the Twins. Little Big League?

You are correct. I loved that he played a heel in that movie. It made no sense. Jr. always had a good guy image.

I remember being the hospital when I was young and playing this game. I loved it. There were three body types, and then Griffey. It was great.

He walked up to the plate and had a look that basically said, 'Fuck you and your dead grandpa kid' and he hits the homerun. Awesome.

Even better was when he robbed the Twins in that movie of what looked like what was (I think) a game-winning HR! He jumped and caught the ball at the wall and looked back at the Twins' dugout with this look that said "fuck you idiots for having some stupid kid as your manager. This is what you get!"

Nice! I liked how a lot of the teams had theme names, like one team would be all front men from famous classic punk bands or another would be all classic movie stars. At least all the players were all based on real players and it had a name edit function!
