So, I'd say about a month ago I started noticing a strange new smell coming from my water any time I washed my hands/dishes/showered (I rarely drink tap water because I don't like the taste of chlorine and lead). It's a little disconcerting to notice a new smell coming from your water supply. But I assumed maybe it was just the pipes/boiler system in my building. I live in the Bronx. Then last weekend I visited my sister all the way in Astoria, Queens, and noticed the exact same weird smell. So it's not my building. What the fuck are they putting in our water? Or, what's getting into our water? Anyone else notice this?

Like I said, I don't drink it, so I'm not concerned with that. I'd just like to know that there's not nuclear waste leaking into my water supply.

I'd like a different aquifier. Maybe a '99 Bordeaux?

Why is there so much lead that you can taste it in your municipal tap water?

The water smells especially bad today, particularly cold water. The stink is back in full force.

When I was in school in Manhattan back in 2005, we used to smell this overpowering scent of maple syrup in the air. I know it made the news at the time but they were unable to pinpoint the source. Did they ever find out what caused it?

i remember that and i thought it was something about a lab where they manufacture scents to attract people to businesses like fast food joints had some sort of accident. they were developing a maple syrup scent for a product or food chain like IHop or something and there was a.....fire? explosion? leak?....not sure what happened to cause the smell to go all over the city, but i know it was from a lab where they manufacture scents that purposely make us hungry.

i'm sure some super hero was born out of the accident that we haven't even heard about yet. he's still getting used to his new powers and the great responsibility that comes along with them.
