Hi all! I have a few questions about Metro 2033. I tried to find answers at a few other forums but it's hard to find anything meaningful. Too many threads end up in an exchange of insults over sexual orientation, the computer as substitute for penis size, parental lineage, and who had the most creative use of swear words. That being said here are my questions:

1) Are all the DVDs of Metro 2033 linked to Steam and Steam is where the actual game download comes from rather it being contained fully on the disc? Is there a DVD version that contains the game that doesn't use Steam?

2) Is a multi-core processor absolutely required for the game to even operate? I get mixed info on this. Some say yes but I have spoken to people online who claim to be running it on a single core based machine.

I recently got a copy and can't get it to run. Everything seems to be OK but I am thinking it's that my machine is just too old to run it (2.3 GHz P4. 2 GB RAM, ATI Radeon X1950 Pro). But, I would think I would at least get the game to come up rather than start to launch and then crash to desktop. The most recent game I played was STALKER: Call of Pripyat and it worked OK. (I loved the STALKER series which is why I was hopeful for Metro 2033) A few games I recently bought installed and loaded but don't run very well including Crysis and Far Cry 2. A new PC is coming eventually, but I just can't quite swing one right now.

If I may have to put Metro on the shelf for now, that's fine. Time is plentiful! I'd just like to know for sure.

Thanks for any help! :help:
