View Full Version : Dead Classmates

I wasn't doing morbid shit like crossing out all the faces of dead people in my yearbook or anything, but after talking to a friend who had a classmate die recently I did a mental tally of all the people I knew from High School that are dead and frankly I'm a little shocked at how high the number is. I'm only 31, and I stopped just shy of two dozen people I knew who died from an illness, sickness, suicide or murder. And that doesn't even include people I barely knew, or didn't know at all, these were all people I'd hung out with at some point or had in my life in some capacity. I'm not in touch with many people from the old days, so there could be even more I don't know about yet. I guess I'm a little taken aback when I actually take the time to think about it. More than likely it's that the circles I used to revolve in were not exactly conducive to a healthy lifestyle. I dunno, how about you guys?

At 54 its a lottery sure healthy living gives you a better chance except for that fate thing!!!!.. Live your life the way you feel is fun and exciting,,, because a lot of my classmates that are gone lived a healthier and purer life than me and I'm still here....That being said I had 4 mates die in wrecks that were pure in soul, and I had 5 die from disease 4 from family history..........Just don't smoke cigarettes the day will come when they all add up...:drunk:

I'm older than you and I would say a couple a doazens is a high number.
The one I remember most is a guy I went to high school with who was a fire chief who died in the WTC on 9/11

That's seriously fucked up!
I don't think a large number are dead from my class of '85. I can only think of one suicide, and one cancer. I think the rest are pretty much auto accidents.

I think the majority of them were from drunk driving, too. There's nothing to do in the sticks, I guess.

As fucked up as it sounds, thanks I guess? At least I don't feel like SUCH an anomaly, although I guess in such a case it'd prolly be better for humanity as a whole if I were odd man out....
I guess I'm wonder how much region goes into too, cuz DUIs and suicides are how most people I know died, and being from the Green Bay area it unfortunately makes sense.

I think he was more referring to the 16% mortality rate.

My grad class was about the same size and am not that much older than underdog. I'm just stunned with how many people have died.
I only know of 5 people from my group who are tits up.

i only know of one classmate from HS that is dead. he died that summer we graduated. he was drinking with some friends and then started fighting over a girl. the other guy pushed him down and the classmate hit his head on the curb. he went into a coma and died. he was gonna start college the next week.
i also know of one jhs classmate who committed suicide in the 9th grade.
i dont really keep in touch with any of my classmates. they never spoke to me anyway.

Exactly. High school was toxic to my well-being. That being said, only three people have died that I know of. Two in car accidents, and one to a weird heart thing. She just fell over and died--no warning. Scary.

just had my 20 year reunion 2 years ago and we counted 23 that had died. 180 graduated that year. Thats only 8% - not too bad I think.

Class of 98. Appx 110 kids. Only one death so far. The family never confirmed if it was an overdose or a suicide.
A buddy's girlfriend from college was killed when her car hit a moose on the mass pike. Only documented case of a moose killing a motorist in MA history. That was seriously fucked when it happened. They were driving back from lake winnipausauke where we had all been that weekend. Sad.

Actually, it's 12 percent. Also, at that rate, there should be at least 25 dead now.
