Not only do I still have them. I watched Iron Giant with my kids this weekend. They were very confused by the whole adjusting the tracking situation.

I have enough stuff on tape that I just bought a Pinnacle Studio Moviebox so I can transfer them to DVD. I think I've got about 6 VCRs in various working states around the house. Once I get everything on disc, it all goes in the garbage.

I have that and my Mom just brought over her VCR and an old ass PBS tape about the tiny town she lives in so that I could make some DVD copies for her.
When I started to do it last night her 1926 VCR ate the fucking tape.
I now have to take apart the dumb VCR to save the tape.
Suck.

We have a whole bunch. I also still own cassette tape version of albums. Also I'm too young for that to be a real thing to say but it's true.

3 cases of VHS. Including Studio press releases, limited editions, remastered stuff, homemade adult:devil2:, the entire Moronathon (Hand edited with no commercials), releases that never made it to VD, and more.
I also have a case of 8mm. Some cinema classics and over 100 hours of "me". Including wedding day prep, honeymoon, baby Sean, Argentina, various beach vaco's.
I need to transfer this shit before it is gone forever.

I'm not wasting money on a DVR! I'm keeping my VCR till it breaks!
In other words... I can't afford DVR.

Time to take apart this ancient video viewing device.
If I don't make it, tell Momma I loved her.
And by Momma I mean sweet, sweet Saphire.

You should transfer those tapes to DVD's and rip them to your computer so that way you have them forever(and you can share them also ;) )
I have a VCR and a bunch of tapes haven't used either of them in years.

i still have a vcr, but i haven't used it in years. i debated even re-connected it when i got a new tv, but it fit in the wall unit, so i kept it.
i also have a cabinet of old tapes, including about 30 tapes full of simpsons episodes. i thought i would have the greatest collection from taping it every sunday. of course, that was before dvd's. hell, i haven't even watched the simpsons in a few years.

I've only kept the VCR tapes of stuff I taped off TV. I love watching the whole shows with the old commercials. I have a whole 8 hours of MTV from leaving the machine running while I was at school (this was when they still played music). Wicked sweet. I need to get them transferred for posterity.
P.S. I'm going to have to have shock therapy to remove the visuals I got when reading about Hottub's homemade adult videos.

And some porn.

I shit canned mine as soon as I got a DVD player, now the only reason I even have a DVD player is because it's part of my surround sound unit.
Don't think I've watched a DVD in a year. Everything is digital now.

Attagoddamnboy.... why keep dvd cases and cd folderes laying around? I can keep two 1080p rips on a thumb-drive the size of an almond for less than the price of a bluray. I can keep every movie I own on a 1TB hard drive the size of my wallet for less than it took to register the plates on my cars.

I taped the Turkey Day Marathon that Comedy Central ran of MST3K one Thanksgiving. Can't put a price on it!

I had a VCR, but it broke. I didn't want to buy a new one, but I still have a bunch of my wife's dance performances on VHS that I need to convert to digital. My parents were pitching their old player, so I just took that.

I wish someone would post those ron & ron tapes online somewhere.
I tossed out a working vhs player not long ago. My tv is a dvd/vhs combo. Home made vcd's will shut off the tv when done. Nice for falling asleep to.However these things will auto shut off the tv at start up sometimes. A fix is to leave a vhs tape in. Or replug the power cord to wall.

Just threw them out. My girl has some exercise tapes that she still watches on the 15 inch combo vcr/tv in the basement. Hilarious how the sounds levels change while watching cassette tapes..

I've got a bunch of anime and Japanese pro wrestling shows on VHS. I've also got 3 large boxes full of tapes that I either need to transfer to DVD or try to sell off/dump...
With the last move, I threw out my VCR and VHS tapes except for 2 that had band gigs on them.
When we moved into the new house we found a camcorder tape from the previous owner hidden in back of a closet on a shelf.. We don't have anything to play it in, but we still have it somewhere...
Hmmm I wonder what it could be?

I got rid of most of my tapes. Any personal ones (family vids, homemade porn, skydiving, etc.) I transferred onto my computer with Pinnacle. Saved me alot of space.

It was a touching moment when I discarded my VCR porn collection, especially the 8-hour tapes I had of "Colossal Combos," which they used to sell the 4-hour variety in NYC and I dubbed two on a blank tape. These were all the best parts of the movies and cut out all the bullshit - right to the pussy eating on the lesbo series.
I had a lot of good memories with them and spent many a drunken dawn cranking it to these tapes in my old apartment trying to drop a load so I can go to sleep. It may have mounted to trying to play pool with a rope, but good times anyway.

the entire Moronathon (Hand edited with no commercials), releases that never made it to VD, and more.
The moronathons were actually what I was thinking about when i saw this thread. I have a shitload of Beavis & Butt-head on VHS.
I also have a few old ass lesser known Bruce Campbell movies that I bought off of ebay a while back.

I keep telling myself that I'm going to get one of those machines that transfers VHS to DVD. I have a pretty irreplaceable collection of band videos, documentaries, speeches and teachings by the Dalhi Lama, and some great porn (balance in all things!) on VHS all well worthy of saving.
I am the enternal procrastinator tho...
I did know a guy who used VHS purely for recording audio. He had a very nice, high end stereo VHS deck and used it like a reel to reel tape machine. The sound was very good and he could make some truly long lasting mix tapes for his parties!
I got a bunch of blank ones that I never used to tape anything sitting in a closet.

I still have about 100+ tapes in my garage. A couple of years ago, I called my library to see if they wanted them, and they said they wouldn't take them. In the box, there are maybe five tapes I would want to keep or at least have transferred to DVD. Maybe I'll get motivated to do something with them the next time I move.
