This morning, about 3 AM, I was rolling over to hug my wife while we slept, and did that crippling neck kink thing. Is there anything that makes us more aware of our fragility than completely incapacitating ourselves just by slightly turning our head? I walked around like a mongoloid all day, and now my neck is on fire because I overdid it on the capsaicin rub. It reminds me of getting pepper sprayed. My wife got me this neck brace thing that is filled with little silicon "peas" that you freeze and wrap around your neck. You look ridiculous, but it definitely makes you feel good for a little while.
What weak animals we are. I really can't imagine Ghengis Khan coming out of the tent one morning and calling in sick because he twisted his neck wrong, but it must have happened.

i've never had problems with my neck or back, thankfully. my chick has been having some problems with her neck the last few weeks, and it seems awful. my knees are the thing that are awful on me. i can just be walking and pivot wrong and it will throw my knee out and then i have to twist it back in place. not fun.

I've got that shit with my back, what with the removed disc and all. But what I'm talking about is something that afflicts pretty much everyone from time to time (I think). It's just like pulling a muscle that runs down from the base of the skull into the upper back, and it hurts no matter what you do, and you can't really look to one side.
Dude!

My current ailment is a pinched nerve in my left elbow which is causing my pinkie and ring finger to feel like they're perpetually asleep. Doesn't hurt just annoying as hell.
Only back/neck pain I've ever had was about 8 years ago when I fucked up something pulling a boarder out of the trees. The pain was excruciating and it took a epic dose of morphine to allow the muscles/nerves to come out of spasm. I have an unbelievable amount of respect (not really the right word but best I can come up with) for anyone living with chronic pain. I don't know how they do it. If I lived like that I'd put a bullet in my head.
And ya, we're a weak miserable excuse of a species. That we made our way out of the swamp and evolved to this point is about the only thing that makes me believe there's an omnipotent and protecting god looking after us. There's no way we would have made it this far on pure Darwinism.
