Simpsons had 5 or so seasons that were pretty boring as well...

I tapped out the season they came back from cancellation. I made it a few episodes in, and just couldn't take that half the jokes were just call-backs to earlier episodes.

It's alright. Needs more James Woods.

Still fine to me. And alot funnier then most network "comedies".

Watch an episode from the first season and compare it to one from now. In the first season, they often tried to tell a story in the show. Yeah, there was silly stuff, and a lot of musical numbers (Peter's re-imagining of "The King and I" might be one of the show's best moments ever), but it wasn't just Peter singing "Surfin' Bird" for 10 minutes either.

You could tell me that one pile of shit was tastier than some other ones, but I'm still not going to eat any of it.

I disagree. The Simpsons had a lot more than 5 good years. I would say most of the 90's it was a well-written show and ~2002-~2008 were also very good. Family guy was a cutting-edge show until it was cancelled and as someone else mentioned Futurama was a great show throughout its network run (although I am sure the new episodes being created for comedy central won't be as good)

The episode where Peter grows a mustache and then takes a stroke may be the funniest one ever. Its definitely my favorite.

I still enjoy the show a great deal. The first season back from cancelation was a bit of a drag, but it is one of only a few shows that I watch on a weekly basis.
The last episode I saw was the one where Meg was put in prison for harboring a fugative. I laughed pretty hard.

I will stop watching Family Guy when I stop looking forward to the next next week's episode.

Im not really a big fan but I watch when its on/I dont make it a point to watch or have it on season pass.

I find the stewie and brian dynamic to be really funny.

I've barely watched since it came back, but one of the biggest complaints about the show now is its just a vehicle for Seth's political views and American Dad is now the show that's actually funny.

I agree. I still watch it every week, but the new shows aren't even close to as good as the older ones. I think they've spread themselves too thin with all the shows. They're all going to suffer eventually.

I think the thing with Family Guy is they swing a lot. They try to pack in tons of jokes, and some are great, and some are just awful.

You take a show like Southpark, and they don't swing a lot. But when they do, they knock it out of the park. I think Family Guy just has a shittier average. Every episode I watch, there's some shit I roll over, and some shit I just think is comedically misplaced and un necessary.

I'm a big fan of American Dad. I thought that show was rubbish when it began, but once they got Roger leaving the house and pretending to be different people it got a lot better. I enjoy Stan Smith's unfaltering commitment to his opinions and behaviors (even when they harm him).

Love American Dad, can take or leave Family Guy, and the Cleavland show flips between "meh" and unwatchable.

Every time Macfarlane goes to an over the top, never ending show tune
I change the channel and swear I'll never watch the show again.

A week or two later I'm back.
