Anyone else paying/played Bioshock 2?

Good game, solidly entertaining, but not as epic as the first one, IMO.

I saw a commercial and thought it was pretty hacky when they used the "creepy thing/guy that crawls up a wall and upside-down on the ceiling even though it serves no purpose other than to look weird" gimmick. I was surprised at how dated the cut scene rendering was; it seemed like a clip from Silent Hill 2.

No played yet, was thinking of buying it but not sure about doing so now.

I liked it. It starts slow but the last 30-40% was really good stroy and gameplay wise. It's sort of the opposite of Bioshock 1 where the last half of the game was one huge letdown. But it doesn't have the atmosphere of the first. There's only one area that's really memorable unlike the first where there was something to remember everywhere. But it plays better than the first. Being able to dual wield weapons with plasmids makes the combat so much more fun, especially at the end when you have the full complement of weapons and plasmids. The flip side of that is it makes the first part of the game more boring and frustrating. You definitely don't feel like a Big Daddy at first.

It's a very good game though. It gets better the more you stick with it.

My big problems with Bioshock 1 were pretty much what you say: after you get Ryan, the pursuit of Fontaine isn't nearly as interesting story wise.

I also thought the plasmid setup was a letdown too. You can very easily win this game and barely use your plasmids, or only a couple of them. They should have a much more central role than they do.

Just finished this game yesterday, didn't take long to beat it and the multiplayer is so so. Don't think it's worth buying the game, I should have just rented it from Gamefly.

Does it tell you how many hours you played?

I didn't like how the story fell apart at the end of Bioshock 2. Although the end was a little anti-climactic in 1, the politics angle just gets ignored after a certain point in 2. The story was more coherent in the first.

I also miss the puzzle aspect from 1. They turned it from a moody puzzle game to more of an actioner, but I don't know if that has anything to do with the original designer of 1 leaving the game.

I haven't had time to try the multiplayer, so I don't know if it's any good.
