View Full Version : I dislike long goodbyes

I have a friend that can't seem to handle a quick goobye off the phone. When I am ready to hang up, I quickly try and terminate the call. But she needs to stretch it out for some reason. She will wind down like this "Ok, I guess I will talk to you tomorrow, ok? And I go "Allright, have a good night.." And instead of her saying "Bye" she says something like, "allright, have a good one and give me a call when you__" and on and on. My anxiety level starts skyrocketing at that point because often I need to call someone else or I just have other shit to do or whatever. Why can't everyone just quickly end a call?

I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes you just need to end a call when your wife comes aknocking

Does she ever say 'Ok I'll talk to you tomorrow but first we need to talk about the emails you've been forwarding me?'

Then there are those relatively few that like to ring off without saying g'bye, or see'ya, or anything. When YOU say g'bye it's their signal to hang up. I love to torment them and try to keep them on as long as possible, even just being silent at the end just to see if I can get em to say something.

One friend also hangs on after what should be the end of the call and I say "goodbye" and so yesterday I happened to be in the car and I had Jerry Vale on the radio and I said goodbye and see she didn't hang up, so I cranked up Jerry Vale and watched the call meter show me that it took her a full minute to actually hang up. She must have thought I was going to bad mouth her or start another call or whatever. She was probably going "hello? Hello?" While being drowned out in Italian music! Hahaha
