I travel a lot for work and always stay in Hilton properties, so I have achieved Diamond Status.

As a 'reward' for my loyalty, I got a call from Hilton offering me 3 days 2 nights at their Las Vegas strip hotel for about $120 for the entire trip. If I go to a 2 hour 'tour' (AKA time share presentation) of the hotel, I get a $100 voucher to use for a future Hilton stay, $50 gift card to the hotel spa/restaurant, and $15 in chips.

It sounds like a good deal but I'm wary of the timeshare pitch. Anyone ever sat through one? Any suggestions?

I just bought 8 shares of Rio Rancho, but my wife says I have to get the check back or she'll divorce me

Are you a carnie or a rube?

Are those the only two types of people in the world?

No, but in the case of timeshares pick one of the two.

If you're any way easily swayed by a hard sell then my suggestion would be to not go.

Oh, that'll happen. But you have to decide if it's worth it for the free stuff. I'm too cynical to think there's not another catch they're not mentioning.

You will be bored, annoyed and pressured to buy. Smile and nod. Don't cave, and in the end, you will get the stuff.

It may take a little longer than 2 hours, but it's usually worth it.

You achieved diamond status and all you got was one of those mail scams?

I sat through one years ago. if you know your not buying then go.

I had fun giving excuses why I couldn't buy to see how they would spin it into a reason why I should.
