I had a card from Cap 1 years ago that I canceled. In December I applied for and received a new one. I never received a bill until January which I paid (35 dollar set up fee). Then I called wondering where my card was. They said they revoked it because the fee was 10 days late and would not reinstate it but if I would like I can reapply for a new card (Which of course comes with a new fee) I told the lady she was a thieving cunt and to go fuck herself :furious::furious::furious:

So you lost $35 and no card?
Figures - the credit card industry is now at my bottom of services that screw the average man. Replacing the car business and attorneys. No offense to anyone - but you know what you do.

If I can ever ever ever pay off the extensive debt they hold over my head, I will never deal with them again. There will be one card which I use to buy online stuffs, rent cars, buy plane tickets, the balance of which will not be carried over month to month. Although I have no regular dealings with their actual people, they take so much money out of my pocket every month....To be rid of them would be seriously life-changing. I'm not angry at the large amount of debt, because I racked that up myself and must pay it. The (literally) hundreds of dollars per month they charge just for the joy of doing business with them, they can go screw.

You really gotta learn to not blow up at those people. You keep talking and try to get someone above them to rectify the situation. Telling them to "Go Fuck Themselves" doesn't get you a card or get your $35 back.

I've called an calmly had them remove late payment fees and annual fees I didn't even know existed.

I'd gather my paperwork and call them back if I were you. When someone can't satisfy your situation ask for someone above them, continue until you get what you want.

So they kept the $35 to set-up a card they never set up? Nice scam!

Set up fee? Shit you must have horrible credit. The only card that usually charges an annual fee is american express. I'd never pay to have a shit capital one card. I agree with moe don't curse, just keeping asking for the next supervisor or even call back and deal with a different person. I've thought there was no hope only to deal with someone else and have the issue resolved.

My last job wouldn't accept most Capitol One cards as a security CC on RV rentals because they knew almost all Capitol One customers had the card because they're the 1st ones to offer you a card after your credit is in the toilet.

So yea, basically if you have one of these cards people look down on you.

I have one by the way. :innocent:

Citi is my current favortie because I'm still under a one year - zero interest deal. We'll see what happens this summer.

I've never had any problems with Capital One. They've never raised my rate, or assigned any new weird fees.

Fuck Bank of America up their hairy assholes!

Not only did they arbitrarily raise my rate last June from 10.24 to 19.24%, but then they keep lowering my limit to just above my balance... I'm assuming, in hopes that I'll not notice and exceed it, so they can assign a late fee.

Fucker of it is, because of the 10.24 offer, I had the highest balance on that card at the time. I wasn't too livid until last month when I got a call on my cell while I was at work from some cunt from BoA who needed to "verify some information".

She starts asking me if I'm still in construction, living at an old address, etc... information that is over 16 years old. So I start questioning who she is with, ask for a supervisor, etc... and she checks out. I have only had this card a few years, and obviously she has my current cell number... so I keep asking why she doesn't have all the same info I provided why I opened this account, and I find out that she's going off a credit report, and not just my BoA account.

Bottom line, she starts "counselling" me about my total debt, and telling me that because of my total (including mortgage, car, other cards and accounts, etc), they are once again lowering my rate to just above my current balance.

After an hour or so, I basically kept asking for her to justify why my rate went up 9 points last June, and why I am constantly being hassled and having my limit lowered, after never being late, exceeding my limit, etc... and after "checking with her supervisor", she says that it was because of my overall debt... even though it has gone DOWN since I opened the account at 10.24%.

I basically called her (and BoA) out over the fact that they are really reaching for any excuse to raise rates and collect fees while they can before the impending legislation is enacted this year, and she just kept saying that my rate and limit were "re-assessed" after looking at my overall debt... which, AGAIN, has NOT gone UP since opening this account... but there's no fucking talking to these people.

Once I can move this balance and pay off my car, I will NEVER do business with BoA again.

pbs.org Show.... Frontline The Card Game Fucking unbelievable

Thanks. Just watched the program online HERE (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/creditcards/).

I kept waiting to hear how it's going to change... or get better...

Nope. Just as I had suspected. Ever since Obama signed the bill, and they gave them a year's warning of when it would be enacted... they're using this time to lock us in to higher rates, lower limits, finding new ways to apply more fees...

...there's no fucking hope of getting any fair treatment. Especially for those of us who keep making payments every month. They're getting it where they know they can, and getting as much as they possibly can. (I almost said "legally can", but there IS NO LAW against anything they're doing... and won't be!)

They can (and ARE) "retroactively" applying higher interest rates on existing balances, and do not need to provide us any explanation or justification of why.

Don't like it? You've got 45 days to pay off the balance and cancel the card. Otherwise... TOUGH SHIT. You pay the higher interest rate. End of discussion. Have a nice day!

Since my credit was already screwed by other circumstances I closed both a BoA and Capital One card and made arrangements to pay it off monthly without any further interest being applied.
Got rid of CapOne two years ago and am almost done with the BoA, the status it put me in is still above a charge off and the monthly payments have been "healing" my credit score regardless.
Basically you want to keep every credit card you own on a under 50% of the credit limit balance to make it have the best impact on your credit reporting.

I too plan on getting one card in the near future, one that gives air miles for purchases and has a decent interest rate and I plan on making all purchases through it and then pay off the total monthly every time.

I have NO intention of putting ANYTHING else on my BoA card EVER again, so I would love to cancel and just pay off the balance, but I can't see them agreeing to that with NO interest, without reporting it very negatively on my credit report.

But, like I told the cunt last month, I'll most likely just borrow against my 401k to pay off BoA, and then pay MYSELF back at 4.25% rather than continue to let them rape me.
