Sure it did.
When they charge $18 a ticket for the IMAX version.
I'm surprised it took this long.

Oh, I actually haven't seen it yet.
Looking forward to it. I was just pointing out the difference in price per ticket compared with 15 years ago.

I liked when the Aliens landed the Harrier on the deck of the sinking ship and then had sex with the cyborgs inside the Renault underwater in 3-D.

Don't worry. I didn't say anything about the flying piranhas, the hideous ex-wife and the stripping shemale.

titanic was a much better movie but gDAMN 3-d imax was one of the greatest experiences i've had at a movie theater ever. besides the time i gave that.. i mean got that handjob during toy story 2
but if you haven't seen 3-d imax you are completely missing out. most visually amazing experience i've ever had, besides the time i saw some guy give a hand job at it's complicated...
avatar was an okay story at best, but i might go see it again just because that 3-d imax experience was so f'n nuts. i'll watch anything in 3-d imax now, i am f'n sold. it's ridicuously amazing. so i'm glad it is king, it has changed the way we view movies forever
handjob

...and I'd almost say see it in regular 3D. IMAX 3D gives you sensory overload( and I was in the next to last row in the theater; believe me, you don't want to be in the front row of an IMAX movie) while regular 3D lets you appreciate the depth that the 3D gives you better. 2D , on the other hand is crummy for Avatar.

Put it in all-time real money terms.
if you do that, im pretty sure Heaven's Gate was the number 1 movie of all time
That roller-skating scene in 1870's Wyoming was VERY realistic.

I still haven't found a link with "total number of tickets", but here's one that adjusts for inflation. (http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm)

Except for the ones that re released. Mostly the Disney movies.

I don't want to see anyone pissing and moaning about Avatar passing Titanic.
Why not? Not because Avatar's a great movie, but because Titanic is a piece of shit. It's an hour and a half of one of the least convincing, most cliche-ridden "love stories" ever filmed, then an hour and a half of a ship sinking.
Terrible, terrible movie.

If it wasn't for the 3D, this movie would be.... ehhhhh. A "C" grade at most. Cool effects and all, but zero depth to the story.

And Avatar is not cliche-ridden? Colonial Quaritch may be the most one-dimensial character ever. He's as predictable as a cartoon bad guy.

it's not a must see for me...
all i hear about is effects and not story...
a few clips will take care of the visual without suffering
thru a non-story...
hell... i love 40 year old doctor who shows done for a buck-80 each...
if the story holds up, I'M HAPPY ! ... the visuals were 2nd-ary
(and i know i'm in the minority)
