I have not had these and do not know where they might be available, but I like the idea and it looks cool. Has anyone had it? Where can I get me some?
It looks like they have a machine that forms the dough into a cone and they fill the cone with various topping as you request and they then place it inside a rotating turner that bakes it while it slowly spins in the heat, cooking it. Seems like a much neater way of eating it. Maybe its healthier too, because you would not eat as much? Who knows, either way, it looks intriguing to me!

Apparently its popular in Italy and from what I see, the cone is partially cooked in the manufacturing process, and then simply reheated while the oven bakes the filling.

I imagine most people who take a slice of pizza will fold it in half, correct? Thereby making a sandwich....? How far a leap is it to expand that fold into a cone..?

Pretty fucking far. When you have a folded slice, it doesn't come with a bowl full of cheese and sauce.

Actually, there is a place that sells Cone Pizza near my apartment (I am pretty sure it is called "Pizza Hands"). It could be a Japanese invention, but I assume it is like Starbucks. It is franchised internationally from a western source.

It looks like it is not Japanese, check out after the jump (http://www.pizzahands.com/)

Yeah, I guess so. But there's going to be a point where the toppings/crust ratio is going to be way off. You're gonna have a mouth full of toppings with no crust. The crust is just too important to a good pizza, in my opinion. Now, that being said, if you had me over to your home for dinner and served me a pizza cone, I would eat it. I was raised right. So can I come over?

I think SR71 has lost it completely. How could one think that these cups of grease would be both healthier and easier to eat than pizza?

sr71blackbird
01-18-2010, 03:50 AM
Primarily because you will probably eat just one, as opposed to 3 slices like most people eat. The combined fat and calories from 3 slices is likely a lot higher than one cone and the cone is not just filled with cheese as it seems. I am going from what the videos show, there is one where they show the cone sliced in half and then opened up, and it seems like it smaller than a standard slice. Less size = less calories

So if it's smaller and has less fat and calories, why would you eat just one as opposed to three. Your logic on this one makes absolutely no sense.

Why the hate?

All I am saying is that it has less quantity than most people would likely eat, so they would end up not eating as much in quantity and therefore consume less calories and fat.

Pizza should be considered a holy food. It combines wonderful ingredients into an orgy of tastes that shouldn't be spoiled by some gimmicky cone.

Because it makes absolutely no sense. A slice of pizza has "less quantity than most people would likely eat" so what do people do? Eat more than one piece.

Maybe because it looks like a wretched pile of feces people would eat less of it, but that's not exactly a selling point.

I think you aren't understanding the idea. It makes a lot of sense, you just cant seem to understand it.
You and me and most guys will likely wolf down 3 regular slices, no problem, right? With this, we would likely not order three of them, even though one cone seems to have less stuff in it than one slice of regular pizza.
I generally do not eat until I am full; I am a creature of habit, and somehow I set a limit on myself of 3 slices.
If I were to try this, I would try one.
If I liked it and it was not a pain in the ass to have it made or crazy expensiive, I might get a second one.
But either way, it is less overall "stuff" to consume than three regular slices worth of "stuff", so it stands to reason that if I consume less than my usual 3 slices, I am apt to consume less overall calories and fat.
If you cannot grasp that concept as outlined, then there is no hope in continuing a discussion.
