View Full Version : Things Dave can do for $5000
Dave was ready to sell his personal sex tape for $5000 today, before the kibosh got put on that.
Still, that's a lot of potential Star Wars action figures and bottles of Tito's.
So let's do a little brainstorming.
I suggest the Die Hard with A Vengeance challenge:

he can get a second job at McDonald's for 6 months
He could borrow the $2000 Fez gave to Earl, hit the OTB, and double down a few times.

I know this is supposed to be a funny thread, but what else does the guy have to do? He's hilarious on the radio 6 days a week.
He obviously makes the show exponentially better than it would be without him.... no offense, but think what the show would be like if it was just Ron and Fez.
Set up the PayPal, and I'll make a donation. All he has to do is stay on the show.

Somebodies having trouble reading the thread title.
but what else does the guy have to do?
Honestly, if we're being serious, anyone trying to make it in radio is effectively screwed now. The talk radio shows on SiriusXM are some of the last solidly paying radio gigs around (outside of sports talk and political talk). Talk radio is just dead, and the terrestrial stations don't pay anything for music programming talent and production anymore.
The climate out there really sucks for guys like Sam & Dave, which is a shame, because they definitely have talent.

This is quite true. The American radio industry has used the same programming formulas for the past 35 years. Dave decided to get involved in the radio industry selling a format that, good or bad, the people running radio aren't willing to pay him for. Dave probably should either try to develop an innovative show format that the suits couldn't possibly refuse, or (better yet) try to get involved in television. This is easier said than done, but that is the reality.
Working within the current framework of his career, he should market himself more thoughtfully through Twideos. Make real (fake) commercials of his "pitches" and keep selling himself with confidence. The more he makes his financial problems known, the more potential employers are going to think he is impulsive and unreliable.
I'd also recommend he either give up drinking or keep his drinking problem as private as humanly possible. I cannot imagine the Sirius/XM management are jumping through hoops to hire someone who seems self-destructive when they currently have one of their largest's show's names in the hospital after a suicide attempt.
As I see it, the best way Dave can get money (self-abusive stunts) is also the worst way for him to get ahead in the radio industry.

He could get fake married at a bar for a radio stunt then completly screw up his life by knocking up his beard, twice. Can't wait for the stunt divorce. If Dawn is busy maby Leeder can play fake Domonic Barbara.

Do a re-enactment of R Bud Dwyer?

What about other people who don't make enough but work hard? Do we paypal them too?
Honestly his best bet is probably a sports format
He should star in a remake of "The Toy" (with Cedric the Entertainer in the Gleason role)
It would be perfect!

They don't all make me laugh for 20 hours every week...
Besides, we're already paying to listen to this show, I think the funds ought to be reallocated appropriately.

Ive said this in roundabout ways a lot...Dave is second mic and needs to be paid as such.

Good luck with that. Ron and Fez couldn't get Mooch a job. And Mooch is awesome when he is not cheating at fantasy football.
I think Ron has been trying like hell to get Dave a better gig because he sees the writing on the wall (Sirius will eventually drop all virus talent) Problem is the bird refuses to leave the nest

There are no jobs available for him. Dave isn't stupid about this topic. If he leaves the show, he runs the risk of getting fired in some company's downsizing scheme. The Ron and Fez Show is the most stable gig Dave can get in this age.
