I have been going back and forth of this and trying different brands, but today I got this and made a quick sandwich and gotta say it tastes pretty damn good. A comparison in the store weighed in its favor too as far as fats, calories and sodium and content is concerned:

http://thecollegeskinny.files.wordpress.com/2008/03/peanut-butter.jpg

Whats your favorite and why, and have you compared the health qualities or do you not care one way or the other.

Dude!

not even close....
nothing in it but
peanuts and salt

has a slightly gritty texture
which is better than that
overly hydrogenated crap

the only peanut butter
that has the Dude! Seal of Approval:

Thats what I was using before and I liked it, but the stirring was a pain in the ass as well as the way it hardened while in the fridge. It got to the point it would rip the bread apart, so I started thinking of a smoother texture. I mistakenly used the wrong image, the one I have is not the chunky one, its the smooth one.

No with 50% more salmonella! BTW... The Wal Mart PB is actually Peter Pan.

Skippy Creamy for me. Sometimes the Skippy with honey kind (even though I still end up making pb and honey sandwiches half the time.)

I searched online and Im not the only one who refrigerates it, but I do see the downside of the cold peanut butter. I have a fear of open containers in my pantry attracting vermin, so I keep all open stuff in the fridge. It looks like the majority of people keep it opened in the cabinets though, so they must not worry about bugs etc. You cant 100% keep the jar clean after using it, try as you might.

Maybe clean your rat hole now and again and you won't have 7 kinds of vermin marauding it, zeroing in on an invisible smear of peanut oil on a plastic jar in a closed cabinet.

Or maybe you can just screw the lid back on. I wouldn't leave an open jar of peanut butter in my cabinets either.

Give me Skippy (creamy) with a jar of extra crunchy every once in a while.

Nutella is good stuff in small doses, a piece of toast, english muffin, but it's too sweet to have too often.

NO open food of any kind should be stored anywhere but inside a fridge. Its a known fact and cannot be argued.

All-natural peanut butter (made with just peanuts and maybe salt) is kept in the fridge to keep the oil from separating from the peanuts. Otherwise, you have to stir it up every time you use it. I usually toast my bread, which helps make it easier to spread since it kinda melts the peanut butter. I hate trying to use the hydrogenated peanut butters in recipes .

it is not a known fact

do you put your cornflakes

your flour?
a can of mixed nuts?

you don't refrigerate
whole nuts (unless you're a dope)
so why refrigerate peanut butter

no

Maybe clean your rat hole now and again and you won't have 7 kinds of vermin marauding it, zeroing in on an invisible smear of peanut oil on a plastic jar in a closed cabinet.
No shit! I've never had problems with bugs, mice, Somalis rooting about in my house picking up scraps of food. Why? Because I don't live like a savage and clean the joint.

NO open food of any kind should be stored anywhere but inside a fridge. Its a known fact and cannot be argued.
Its going to take a lot to top that as the most moronic statement I've heard today. A refrigerator is a place to keep items that need to be stored between 37-41. Aside from canned or bottled items like pickles or condiments fridges are designed for short term storage, keeping items in for longer then a week will have a detrimental effect on taste and quality as its a very drying environment.

I do refrigerate any open container except coffee, tea and bread. Cereal, nuts, sugar, jelly, butter no matter what. You people who don't are silly and gross.
Your A in English aside I'm confused about the above. You do or don't store your cereal, nuts, etc. in the fridge?

It will have gone rancid long before I finished it if I stored it at room temperature. Its ground beans, and not really "nuts" anyway!

OK, I can't believe I'm even continuing this discussion but here goes. So when you buy a box of Fruity Pebbles it goes into the fridge? And you had sugar on your list of chilled items, ummmm why??? Where does bread go? How about fruit like unpealed apples and oranges? Potatoes and onions? If you keep coffee in there how about tea? You seem to keep a LOT of stuff in the fridge, do you only buy travel/single serving/kids sizes to be able to fit it all?

And its not moronic, it is how civilized people live. Every person I asked today said they keep it in the fridge too. Same reason.
Hey look, a civilized person with all sorts of stuff not in a refrigerator. And not a vermin in sight, I haven't dropped dead with salmonella and if you look close you might even shit a brick.
