I have to say, hats off to Kaz. He saw the writing on the wall. For all their talk, the WWF is not serious about creating a lightheavyweight division, despite the fact that juniorheavyweights CAN draw if allowed to. Kaz knew that he was probably going to be released next time the hatchet fell; but even if he did get called up, what awaited him? The opportunity to be squashed every week by HOSSES like Bradshaw? He saw greener pastures, and I salute him.

For those not familiar with Kaz, he's VERY talented. Before Kaientai became a booker's joke here in the States, they were Kaientai DX in Michinoku Pro, and they KICKED ASS. Kaz led the group as Shiryu (wearing a mask), followed by TAKA Michinoku, Men's Teioh, Sho Funaki, and Dick Togo. He (Kaz) was being groomed to take over for guys like Ultimo Dragon & Jyushin Thunder Lyger (see sig pic). He decided to come to here to the U.S., and after a minor bidding war, WCW got him, where he remained off and on until the buy-out.

I say good for Kaz. He's still young (around 30 yrs. old), he's still very talented (he's very underrated IMO), and with the chaos going on over in the Japanese scene, he'll probably have quite a few offers (unlike TAKA and Funaki, who's careers in Japan are finished thanks to the WWF). New Japan may want to hire him to compensate for the loss of Ka Shin, NOAH may want to beef up their junior division, and with the return of the Dragon to active competition later this year, I'm sure Toryumon will want him too.

Good luck, Kaz, and congrats on being one of the smart ones.

Sorry for the bump, but I just wanted to add an update.

Apparently, Kaz was VERY smart when he asked for his release. He either knew what was going on (with the turmoil going on in the wrestling promotions over there) or someone (like Keiji Mutoh) had his ear and was telling him things, but it was brilliant of him to ask for his release.

All Japan Pro Wrestling, which up until a couple months ago looked about ready to fold, is now set to become THE powerhouse wrestling federation in Japan. And they want to beef up their junior division, so it appears that Kaz has signed a contract with them, and will be a big star there in his homeland.

I'm happy for Kaz. Let's be honest, the WWF wouldn't use him right, or they'd just treat him like a joke (like Funaki & TAKA, who were booed heavily upon the WWF's show in Japan). Now he has a real chance to shine and become a big star.

It's good to hear Victoria's finally on her way...has anyone else notice that the women's matches have heated up a lot recently? It hasn't been this good since Alundra Blaze aka Madusa was in the WWF...until the whole Bertha Faye debacle...
