I don't usually don't post much on sports usually because I don't watch it that often.
But why is it that football teams feel the need to bench their good players at the end of games like in baseball?
I can see how they could make the arguement of they want to save their strength for the playoffs.
But even that is a bullshit statement.
I feel that if this trend keeps happening with the end of the regular season games it's going to spring to all the games and we will have a specific relief quarterback position on the roster just like in baseball.
A terrible shame indeed. (Fuck the Jets)

The Colts are a disgrace.
I like Peyton Manning alot, but i hope that team goes down in flames to teach them a lesson about not being a disgraceful cowardly franchise.

I can understand the argument that what would have been best for the Colts was for them to continue to play their starters to keep their "momentum" going into the playoffs, but what basis do you have to say things like "cowardly"? It makes no sense.

Basically if you don't play your A-Team all the time it says to me that you have zero confidence in the team.

why would you ever take out your starter. he doesnt get tired, and he is your best QB. This might be the dumbest idea ever. Yea lets bring in a shittier guy who is cold

unlike baseball where it is overpaid aholes who aren't in shape and get hurt all the time, it is ridiculously easy to get hurt in football no matter what position you are in. that's the main reason almost all teams have more then one running back, it keeps both guys fresh and also reduces the injury risk of being on the field the whole time. there are only a handful of teams that only use one main running back
so all the people who yell when they bench the qb, if you're a fan of that team and he gets hurt in the 4th quarter of a meaningless game would you not be angry at that as well? so as a coach you figure if you bench your star QB everyone will be mad but he will be healthy for the playoff run. if you play him and he gets hurt then everyone is mad and you are without your star QB. if you weigh the options it makes sense...
that being said, i don't agree w/ the philosophy at all. i get it, but i don't agree. i say you make winning the #1 priority all the time, if the colts were up by 2 touchdowns and it's the 4th quarter then maybe possibly bench manning, but if you have the ability go undefeated that is something special and you should go for it.
and yes, f the jets

They wanted no part of the pressure of going into the playoffs undefeated.
That to me is cowardly.
I hate the Pats and everything about them.
But they went for it when they had the chance.
They played everyone vs the Giants.
If it wasnt for the perfect storm that hit them in the superbowl. they would have done it.

I'd like just one decent quarterback on my team.

Leave it to the Bills to wind up with the only shitty QB of the 2004 1st rd class.

There was so much hope with that pick. Then like everything else in buffalo sports history, its taken behind the wood shed and is raped to death.

You guys had two picks that year.
You could have packaged one with like a 3rd or 4th rounder to move ahead of Pitt and take Rothlisberger.

You dont give up the chance at making history to rest. Case closed. Fuck that. And every football player, including Peyton Manning, agrees.

Michael Wilbon said it well on PTI today. "The Colts thumbed their nose at a history of tradition. You play to win the game".
