I jacked up my knee at hockey last night and now it is fucking killing me. Can't sleep so I'm icing it right now. When I was making a save I heard/felt a pop on the inside of my knee so I'm thinking its related to the MCL. I can walk on it but its painful and any side to side movement of the knee kills. I think I heard that you can injure the MCL and still be able to walk. Anybody with experience with this. I don't think my insurance policy has gone through yet with my job so I don't really want to go to the hospital.

My day now looks like this: ice on 20 mins, hit the bowl, ice off 20 mins, hit the bowl, etc. This is going to be one long boring ass day.

What time is too early to open up the 1.75 liter of crown royal I bought yesterday?

most of the time you can walk on knee injuries. Even blown ACLs most guys walk off the field after. You definately need to go have it looked at. maybe even an MRI

I had a partial tear of my MCL and meniscus in jump school and walked away. Hell, I even was trying to run on it so I would not show weakness. It hurt like a sonabitch an instead of surgery I rehabbed it and now have a stronger knee that is arthritic.

Get it looked at, especially if there is swelling.

which bowl are ya hitting exactly? The toilet or the schticky icky? Because if its the latter, i would trade places with you in a heartbeat.

If you have insurance, you should go through them. A less ethical attorney would tell you to get yourself to work, take a slip in the bathroom (or elsewhere) and go through the workers comp of your state.

That is unless, of course, an accident report was made on the day you hurt yourself.

It doesn't look like there is any swelling. I've bee keeping a lot of ice on it and been taking some anti inflammatory meds.

The director of payroll is out on vaca so I won't know if my ins went through for a few more days. If its still bothering me in a few days I want to get it looked at.

This has happened to my other knee several times and when I did go to the doc he just said rest and ice. Now I got two bad knees.

if it's your MCL you shouldn't worry too much. when it tears usually with a good brace & some rest it can start to heal on it's own. rarely do you have to have surgery to repair it. you just might have to stay away from real physical activity for a few weeks.

DO NOT GO TO A HOSPITAL!!! This requires a visit with your regular doctor or an ortho, hosptials are not necessary for this type of injury. Doctors in the hospital will put you on crutches & tell you to follow up with an ortho anyway. it's a waste of time & money. you need an mri & that's not something the ER will do for you in this case. Once you're healing you just have to strengthen your leg up & it shouldn't really bring you too many problems. you should be back to hockey in a few weeks.

Be careful about your leg giving out on you. If it starts buckling you could have done damage to the ACL. If that's the case & it's fully blown out, you probably would need surgery. ACL's don't have the same blood supply as the rest of the ligaments in the knee & unfortunately don't heal themselves.

That's pretty rare. I've seen a lot & usually they are crying & screaming. (Surprisingly the guys cry a whole lot more than the girls do). Me on the other hand, I was in extreme denial when I tore my ACL and wanted to continue skiing down the mountain till my boyfriend threatened to call ski patrol on me & have them take me down on one of those little sleds. I gave in & handed him my skis.

Thanks drusilla. It has been feeling better this evening but that could be attibuted to several substances.

I've got on bowie greatest hits, a sack, a fridge full of beers, and the rest of the night.

it's hard to describe in writing how to test if it's your mcl or acl or meniscus & for some reason i feel bad having you self diagnose without being fully educated. but basically if your knee joint opens up in directions that it shouldn't, you hurt a ligament. if it hurts when you compress & twist the joint, you got the meniscus.

I'm not totally uneducated. I've seen a doctor a few times aboutmy right knee. Its a problem in a different location. My fiance is a message therapist and prides herself about knowing how muscle, ligaments, etc. work together. I enjoy looking through her anatamy books to learn more about it.

You know what I mean... It's just better to check with a doctor to make sure that you aren't doing more harm than good.

On Sunday it was so nice we went for a walk on the beach. As I walked, there was an area where the sand was all pristine and I walked on it and it suddenly gave way and I sank one leg in about a foot. I kind of tumbled forward for a second and caught myself. And continued on and walked about 8 miles fine. The next day and today, wow. What pain I am in. I an popping ibuprophen like M&Ms.

I think Jesus does all the carrying. Unless you're Jewish, then you're on your own.
