I have a minor situation here - at any given time I have 3 computers (work, laptop, main music library) authorized to my itunes account. Over the years, though, I have gone through two other laptops. Yesterday, I attempted to set up my account on my son's laptop, but you have a 5 computer limit. Since the older computers have long been destroyed, I have no way to deauthorize them. Is there a way to fix this?

Yes, there's an option to deauthorize all computers. Then you will reauthorize the ones you want to use now.

Ah yes, that makes sense. Thanks!

Jon had to have some ulterior motive in answering that question so quickly and helpfully.

I know - he's on the Apple payroll!

Sign into your account with iTunes (from any computer.) There should be a "Deauthorize All" button in your account settings. Click it.

If not, you'll need to email iTunes support to get them to do it for you. They shouldn't have a problem with it, unless you've done this a suspiciously high number of times. (You can only actually click that button once a year.)

Or Jon has had Macs for so long that he had to do this last month himself. The difference is when I did it, the laptop went cha-ching and my bank account went up.
