Ending the year with the Pretenders [Archive]

Listening to Ron and Fez end the show today with the Pretenders' Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas made me think of the way they ended their last show of the year in 2002 with 2000 Miles, a bittersweet night where we all knew we were saying good-bye to the boys because Opie and Anthony had already been fired and we knew the station itself was soon to fall as well.

I don't know if anyone else felt that way this afternoon, but I just wanted to share and revisit old memories with buddays.

I have always been a huge fan of the opener for the past few years.

A great way to start the season.

It's a mediocre version, at best.

The only thing I remember about yesterday's show was how much I wanted to punch the two goons that were on during the last hour.

They end the last show of the year every year with the Pretenders' "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". I just checked the archives. They ended the show in 2002 with it as well, and not 2000 Miles. I forgot about the fact that after the song ended, they had a "Just in case we don't come back -- YOUR MOM'S BOX"

I wanted to shake Ron's hand for that line...

And I want to hug Dave for making me giggle like an ass daily this year.

I still laugh to myself when i picture the readheaded lunatic going hiphop/Morrison at Sammy's. Ron telling the story was perfect and mikey sounded great on air. Fez was hilarious yesterday, too. I love that the show has finished so strongly for 2009.

That was an awsome night. I like how I was so incoherant I couldn't give my Christmas wishes toward the end of the show.
