Christmas is fast approaching, and I need some help. I have an older XM Tao portable unit, and I was going to replace it with a XMP3 portable unit. I remember from an email a while back that I could add a second receiver to my subscription for a reasonable amount, so I was going to buy my wife a unit for her car.

Should I: (a) add my wife to my XM subscription and buy new XM equipment or (b) cancel my XM subscription, subscribe with Sirius and buy two new Sirius units?

What effect will the merger have on XM equipment? Will the XM equipment always continue to work?

My main concern is that I continue to receive R&F and O&A, but the addition of Stern on the Sirius channels would be nice. I’m fine continuing my XM subscription but if there’s a concern about the future of XM, does it make sense to switch now?

Thanks Buddays!

i had a similar delema last year. my xm subscription was up and my myfi was falling apart.
on top of that, the free sirius subscription that cam with my van, was coming to an end.
i ended up dropping xm and renewed the sirius, then bought a portable sirius unit.

as for the merger, i still don't understand how it works, which is why i just went with the one.

My friend recently got xm with best of sirius. He said they also offered all of XM and all of Sirius for a little more. I thought they combined all the music channels so i was confused by this. Whats the difference?

the music channels have been combined, as are the comedy channels.
i think some of the news and talk channels are still different.
