I don't know where else to post this.

In "Who Killed Retro Girl" Walker tells Pilgrim that he lost his powers in a fight with some guy named Ssazz and Pilgrim says "oh yeah, that B9FomFom dude was there".

However, in "Forever", Walker loses his powers in Triphammer's lab fighting his eternal nemesis "wolfe".

Does anyone have any information on this? It's driving me kind of nuts.

your pal,

I do not recognize most of the words in this post.

Moved to the nerd forum since it's a comics question.

It seemed like Walker was lying since he hid his past with Wolfe for as long as he could.

I thought about that as well...it just seemed like Bendis forgot what he wrote previously, but surely a dude as smart as he is wouldn't have done that. then I wondered if it had something to do with the switch from image to marvel. I loved the "Forever" story, though, and that event with Triphammer's drainer was amazing, and much more interesting than just losing your powers in a fight.

anyway, it still drives me a little batty.

Bendis seems pretty anal retentive when it comes to his own ideas, so I'd be surprised if he forgot. To me it seems to fit in with how evasive Walker was about his past until he couldn't hide it any longer. He probably just wanted to give Pilgrim an answer to end the conversation as opposed to explaining how he's basically immortal and that he has an equally immortal nemesis. That's a lot of baggage!

I agree that's the only solution that makes sense. it's just weird. he told the earlier story so matter of factly, and she seemed to remember something about it. just an odd twist, but of course life has these odd inconsistencies all the time and it's only in my comic books that I demand the opposite. ha

I'll just have to let it go...you have to be right.

Bendis and continuity don't mix all that well. But on the plus side you do get conversations where everyone has the same hybrid noir/Seinfeld voice.

So you're saying a typical 5 pages Powers investigation scene sounds like:
Him: Did you do it?
Her: Did I do it?
Him: Did you do it?
Her: No, I didn't do it.
Him: You sure you didn't do it?
Her: I'm sure I didn't do it.
etc.

Damn his decompression.

It's sort of why I stopped reading Powers. Eventually I'll pick up the hardcovers and rail thru and it'll make a good read. But the issues where Walker is finally shown to be immortal had 5-10 pages of wordless battle between cavemen (and naked monkey butts), but I finished reading it way too quick. It would take me longer to read his letter columns than the actual issue.

Powers is pretty much the only title of his I still read. I can't tolerate his style of writing and his "voice" on anything except his creator-owned projects. Powers is also definitely a series written with the trades in mind as opposed to the single issues.

I just cut my list, and I've been reading New Avengers till now. I'm done with it. Mostly done with Marvel, but I'll post about that in the general thread when I post my list later.
