I had some British in-laws in town. they are obsessed about this story and kept trying to pick a fight with me, as though I would automatically defend her since she is American. They clearly have already decided that she is a spoiled American who should be locked away. I really don't give a shit and couldn't pretend to.

I think she probably did it, or was at least involved in the murder, but I doubt she would have ever been convicted here in the USA.

I'll never know what happened, but if the criteria for conviction were truly burden of proof the trial would likely have had a very different outcome. I don't want to defend Knox, but from what I have read about the trial is true, I have some concerns.

I thought it was interesting that the African guy who took the 'fast track' trial got more time than the other two. It didn't sound like he was ever suspected of actually committing the murder, just contributing.

and hearing about this case reminds of me a douglas preston book ive been wanting to read.

its a book about his dealings with the italian public prosecutor (who is the same guy from the knox case) in a serial killer case back in the 70's and 80's. the prosecutor went on trial for abuse of office and conflict of interest , and i think this trial for misconduct was at the same time the knox trial was happening. :blink:
