Today is the day we find out which groups each country will be playing in.

Hopefully the group the US ends up in won't be too difficult for them to win or advance from.

The draw will be live on ESPN2 at noon est.

Im excited

Cant worry about the top-8, but the US really has to avoid ghana, ivory coast, or cameroon.

They're talking about Beckham and if he can really help England's World Cup run -- assuming he's even on the team.

I think his whole time playing in America has to be looked at as one of the great sports blunders ever.

The Confederation Cup games which took place in S. Africa this past summer had start times of 9:55 am and 2:25 pm est.

I imagine the WC will follow a similar schedule and throw in a noon est start, depending on how many games are played each day.

Group G has to be the Group Of Death, right??

Brazil (a perennial powerhouse)
Portugal (great players, playing awesome)
Ivory Coast (look at all the Premier League players on the squad--awesome)
Korea (sadly, I feel our yellow friends will be sacrificial lambs)

This is the group to watch and all the first round matches will be high scoring and fun to watch.

Fuckin' France (and Mexico to a lesser extent) catching a major break. It's like they were a top seed. Looked really great for Mexico until France ended up in their group. G looks killer and H should be some tough competition as well. Other than the Hipppo endorsement the USA has a decent draw.

Don't be ridiculous. You will probably get to the second round though. It's a good group for England and reading a lot of the reports is looked on as one of the easier groups on the WC draw.

i doubt he meant it in terms of needing it to advance. if it's an easy group, it starts at the top. england's likely the worst best team in any bracket, due to brasil's lucky placement.

Do you have a hard time supporting the England FIFA team because of your loyalty to Leeds? I ask because my in-laws are all Arsenal fanatics and they support France above England because of Wegner and the French gunners (well, not as many now). they still can't stand hoping anything good for that twat, Rooney.

I guess because soccer is not that big here they will not set up the USA game just so we would see them in a prime spot. Now what channel will be showing the games. I thought I saw that Cablevision was going to do a on-demand package for the world cup. Have to find a few bars that will show the games. I know of one on smith street in Brooklyn.

Drogba - Chelsea
Toure - Man. City
Eboue - Arsenal
Kalou - Chelsea

Meite - West Brom (although they are now in the Championship due to relegation)

There are a couple more who play in Europe as well.

Overall, a very good team. Kalou and Drogba should cause some problems.

The majority of the USMNT won't be on the World Cup roster, but you may see a few who make it as subs if injuries occur between now and June.
