Mae and Mac define how so much is done. I would be very surprised to see them go the way of the dodo. I will let you know after my next big training session. 15 hours of class next week.

These are actually very interesting to look at.

That's in the commentary for some of these. Seems like at least of few these companies have basically been dead men walking.

my uncle worked for Nortel
and in 1999 was riding high
with like 10,000 shares of stock
at $100 each....
for a while he was a millionaire
then came the Y2K stock crash
and he held his shares all the way down
then he lost his job there
now the stock is virtually worthless
timing is everything

That one was horrible. There are so many different lists, though. One I saw from 2008 correctly called Circuit City, but they bombed on just about everything else, including K Mart, and Old Navy.

I think Blockbuster is definitely the first to go. They are having blowout closing sales everywhere here.
How can they possibly compete with Netflix and on demand? $7 per movie from BB vs. $15 a month unlimited from Netflix...? No brainer. And don't tell me their Blockbuster By Mail program even competes with Netflix.
The people that go to Blockbuster are the same people that still have home phones and they'll be dead soon.

Blockbuster is going to try to replace most of their stores with Redbox type kiosks. But I don't see how they catch up to them, with such a big head start.

Motorola won't die -- they make too much money doing other things in other industries -- but they do seem dead in the water on cell phones for the consumer market. The Droid doesn't seem to have been the knockout they were hoping for.
I don't see how Blockbuster made it through 2009. Who the fuck goes there anymore? Either Netflix your movies, or even go to a Redbox if you need to see it quickly.

Exactly. Redbox is essentially everything you would need from a BB in the size of a vending machine. No overhead and it runs itself.

It's a fucking toy compared to the Blackberry its designers never having thought that that we might take this thing seriously and want Outlook mail and calendar in one app like a serious business device. Agreed tho, anyone who says Moto will die has no idea about what they do as a company. They are as solid as GE and 'em, NBC or Comcast.

Suck it blockbuster!
Kia, really? They account for just about 50% of the Hyundai group sales. The guy can take a wet shit on a sit-and-spin and then start spinning it as fast as he can in the middle of a bunch of magazines and see where the shit lands to have better luck predicting what companies will go away.
T-Mobile is equally ludicrous (speed). Maybe they get bought out, but not any time soon. All the speculation on LTE is stupid considering AT&T and T-Mobile use the same base station equipment now.
Half the list are a bunch of no brainers, then the other half read like the guy just hates the commercials for those companies and wants to see them go out of business

The Kia thing is RIDICULOUSLY idiotic.
He uses Ford and GM as a comparison, but here's the problem:
Ford woke up and realized that all the Mercuries are just rebadged Fords. When you already have a luxe brand of cars (lincoln) and you're the #1 American automaker, you don't need a redundant brand.
GM *HAD* to get rid of it's brands because it was fucking BLEEDING money. Saabs and Hummers were not selling at all.
Notice how Toyota and Nissan, that just have two nameplates - LIKE KIA - isn't mentioned.
Moron.

T-Mobile is definitely in trouble. They'll have to merge or be bought out to survive. They had a place for a while, but there's virtually no reason to go to them anymore.

They're not in trouble for a few years, and that depends on whether or not they'll have to buy up more spectrum. LTE is a long, long way off and not much is settled yet. The 4G Sprint is using is only at best 4G speed and has nothing to do with 4G -- the tech they're using is what everyone else is using to bring bandwidth in to a site. They're in more trouble than T-Mobile due to them gambling on what looks to be a dead-end technology (for their purposes)

Sprint is in trouble because they paid $35 billion for Nextel.
T-Mobile was trying to get the iPhone but the money they would have had to pay would have bankrupted the company. They have virtually nothing to offer anymore.

Dude, I still see the signs on the old Bradlees stores all over south Jersey. They've been out of business now for what, 10, 11 years? Creepy how nothing replaced them during the economic boom of the early 21rst century.

What gets me is why do stupid companies go with dumb second rate cell phone companies? For example, Blockbuster goes with T-Mobile to offer it's mobile movie watching app. What like 5 people at T-Mobile actually have contracts vs. the usual prepaid accounts? And out of the 5, 2 of those losers have the smartphone capable of running BB's app.
Way to go BB, way to go.

For a while we had an old Bradlees, but someone opened it up as "B' lees". They took the light bulbs out of "rad".
It was the ghetto area Bradlees.

They had sold their building in Chappaqua a few years ago but continued to rent it.
They since decided to move out and consolidate their people in offices in NYC and White Plains.
Pepsi thought about renting some space in that building but decided instead to put people on top of each other in the other Westchester locations.

I thought T-Mobiles appeal was they were catering to the kid / minority / no credit / bad credit crowd.
