Think of it this way: it's a blend of email and instant messaging. So, instead of sending a separate email to respond to something, I can just add to or edit the message that already exists. Plus, if I"m online at the same time as someone who's taking part in the discussion, we can chat while we're there.

It's a cool idea; I'll be curious to see how it works.

I've been following Wave on Twitter and haven't seen anyone mention that they got their invite.

I guess Google is delaying the release.

There was an invite on eBay this morning that was in the $70+ range, but it was pulled.

Apparently, the Google division working on Wave is based in Australia, so they were going to release the invites on Oct. 1 their time, which is the evening of 9/30 in North America.

Invites are apparently coming out now; I'm seeing a few tweets about it now. Apparently, though, those Aussie bastards told me to go screw, because I haven't gotten one.

I'm not sure I just got it a few hours ago and so far have only had a conversation I just looked around on how to send a invite but I don't see anything. If I figure it out I will hook you up. It took a week and a half for me to get my invite from the person who sent it to me.

I have had it for over a month now and I can't send out invites another person I know has been able to give out over 60 invites.

I have yet to hear anything about this that makes it sound even remotely useful. Google has either coded a useless application, or has no idea how to market it. How is it different than gmail?

It would be a cool thing say if you were working on a project with a group of people then you can work on it in real time. Otherwise I'm sure a good majority of the people who have Wave will end up not using it.

Open Google Wave. Open the Extensions Gallery by searching for the "Welcome to Google Wave" wave. There is a link to the Extensions Gallery there.

Step 2

Find the Video Chat Experience extension and install it. You install it by clicking "install extension" and then clicking "confirm" on the pop-up message.

Step 3

Start a Wave with the person you want to chat with. Once you start editing the wave, you will notice an extension for video chatting. Just insert the extension into your wave, follow the directions, and video chat away!
