View Full Version : mininova goes legal
torrent site Mininova has deleted all infringing torrents (http://torrentfreak.com/mininova-deletes-all-infringing-torrents-and-goes-legal-091126/). Only files that are legal to share are now available there.
I think their web traffic will decline rapidly. :flush:

Damn that's the two biggest torrent sites dismantled.
Did this come out of nowhere? I wonder how big the lawsuit is they must have been holding over their heads.

I think there was some kind of suit or hint at a suit, but I am not entirely sure.

I got a good copy of 2012 off Mininova last week. Sorry to see them being curtailed. :glurps:http://mnstat.com/images/blog/index.html

was looking at Mininova this morning and the total number of movie torrents has been reduced to 579. Still having peers uploading from me.

I just found one. This is great for singles.
I just searched, played, and downloaded a song.
It was fast, sounded good, and the mp3 I got is good quality.

isohunt and TPB still seem to cover most of my music needs, though it's definitely tough out there until Demonoid comes back.
I don't have a lot of sympathy for the record, movie and TV industry. Most of their ad-revenue and pay sites don't work in Japan and many of their CDs, DVDs and movies fail to see the light of day here. Most resellers don't ship CDs or DVDs internationally.
They screw themselves out of my money.

isohunt relies on other sites. Most of my results there used to be drawn from the pirate bay and mininova. This news will hurt isohunt.

They prob have their head on the chopping block next. and have taken a proactive step.
These sites are indexers you can pretty much just use google the same way by adding torrent to title you want.

Yeah, that's been my backup. Hell, I've found stuff that wasn't on Demonoid at its peak or TPB before it got shitty that way. It's trial and error in terms of figuring out which sites are basically just spammers trying to lure people in. but once you've figured it out it's great for fidning music torrents.

That didn't take long.
IsoHunt Loses US Lawsuit Against Movie Studios
Following a 2006 complaint by several Hollywood studios, a US federal court in California has ruled that isoHunt is guilty of inducing copyright infringement. Due to the similarities between this case and earlier ones involving Napster and Grokster, the judge decided there is no need to proceed to a full trial. Summary judgment was granted.
On December 21st 2009, a US federal court in California ruled that isoHunt is indeed guilty of violating US copyright law by way of inducement, with the operators having engaged in “purposeful, culpable expression and conduct, aimed at promoting infringing uses of the websites.”
