Kids don't automatically get the father's name there, they have 3 kids now (or more?) and only being married and filing for the name change in court is giving those kids his last name, and once they did, after this many kids and years together, you wouldn't want to share one name with your hubby and kids?

My mom MADE me take my stepfather's name cause they feel that it is easier for a child to have the same name as the mother.

What's odd is that she is taking the last name that her husband who himself doesn't use.

His full name, per wiki, is Seal Henry Olusegun Olumide Adeola Samuel.

Imagine if for some reason, one of Cher's husbands decided to take the wife's name (it happens), he would be a Sarkisian. Or Madonna's husband - a Ciccone.
