Worst artistic career choices

There are times when artists make career choices that send them in a different path. Often this path leads to a much more lucrative outcome for them, but a much lower artistic quality of their work. An example of such a career choice would be how Rod Stewart dealt with the success of "Maggie May".

After Maggie May, he went completely solo and went from a very solid career to a completely embarrassing career. (albeit highly lucrative)

Scarlett Johansson in everything since Lost in Translation. The thing is, she's not doing it on purpose. She wants to do good movies. She did the artistic period pieces, she did Woody Allen movies, she did that magic movie with Bale and Jackman. It's just that the movies have turned out to be sub-par, and she was a big part in all of them. It's like she's been cursed since Lost. The only OK movie was Vicki Cristina Barcelona, and that was because of Bardem and Cruz, she (and, honestly, Woody too) was pretty crappy in it.
