I thought I was the only person who hated mayo so much. I can't stand it. Whenever I get food out I have to say no mayo, because so many places try to sneak that vile smelling stuff on to different foods, even sushi. Gross. Yuck. Barf.

Things I've tried but will not eat again:

Cecos (cow brain, mexican-style). I ordered a carnitas burrito from a mexican joint. I had been having issues with one of the waiters on previous visits, and I think he recognized my voice when I ordered the take out. We were eating our burritos at home, with low light as we were watching a movie. I had eaten several bites. I turned on the light to find that I had been eating brains. There were all kinds of tubular vessel-type thingies mixed in with the gray matter. Fucking hideous.

Uni (sea urchin gonads). A japanese delicacy, the urchins that are prized in Japan are indigenous to our coast. I am a huge fan of most food that comes from the ocean. I love ocean fish roe, oysters, and most things that are briny-tasting and redolent of the sea. A friend of ours harvested some sea urchins when he was abalone diving and brought the bounty over to our house. I cracked an urchin open, which is kind of like a large, thick-shelled black egg with spines. There is a large digestive cavity in the thing, and the smell of partially digested seaweed was the first thing I noticed. The uni are several mealy yellow masses in the the cavity that resemble fish roe in a snot matrix. Slimy, mealy, and nasty.

Unagi (Freshwater eel). I used to get this standard flavor of nigiri sushi all the time. Then we got an eel for our freshwater aquarium. It was a cool pet. We went on vacation for two weeks. The eel died. I had to remove the rotting eel by hand so that it wouldn't poison the other fish. It was like grabbing big lizard tongue. Made from erectile tissue. With a decomposed outer layer that sloughs off in your hand when you try to grab it. Since then, I cannot eat eel.

Escargot. I really tried to like it, but it just didn't take.

eel is lovely (it's just fish). i've never had veal that wasn't stringy, so it's something i'd probably never have again.

I never had Mexican style cow brain but I have had it Austrian style. My grandfather was a bit of an odd guy at times, it he got something in his brain it had to happen. He seemed to remember having calf brain as a kid and that it was tasty, so he sent Mom and I on a mission to find calf brain. At the time the town we lived is was very white and white bread so not a chance that any of the mainstream stores like Safeway would carry brain. So, off to the slaughter house we go. This place was an old school abattoir with sawdust on the floor and absolutely no consideration to separate the butchering from delicate customer's sensibilities. Mom goes up to the counter and asks, as quietly as possible as to not look like a complete ghoul, "do you have any calf brains?". The woman serving her turns around and yells to someone in the back, "HEY FRED, calf brains...have any fresh?". Mom, got the brains and we left as quickly as possible. To prepare them grandpa wanted them fried with salt and pepper......it looked like white shit! Smelled like white shit. Can't say how it tasted since it looked and smelled like shit.

Indian (7-11 Indian, not Casino Indian) food can be amazing. A butter chicken or vindaloo prepared correctly and with proper ingredients is a borderline sexual experience to eat. But prepared with substandard product like b-grade meat is heinous.

Calling it "Middle Eastern" is kind of a broad brush. There are some dishes from Turkey I enjoy but the further south you go towards Africa it seems to all be nothing more then various forms of goop and paste. Had an ex who liked to go out for Ethiopian all the time and I never got into it. Just different red, orange, green and yellow mush that all tasted pretty much the same.
