So is anyone gearing up for the consumer-palooza that is Black Friday?

I've got my eyes on a few things.

Ads are already out on Slickdeals, etc.

Hard to believe it's just 2 weeks away.

i know.
actually, all my shopping is done already. i decided especially with the economy in the shitter, retailers will have slim shelves. with what i'd save by waiting for the sales, i'd gain in actually getting what i want.

flipside is that with the economy in the shitter, stores have already started their sales, hoping to gain a couple of weeks of good bidness. rte 22 has been quite heavy past weekend or so.

Some of the ads have slipped out. Best Buy is offering a PS3 with Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time and LittleBigPlanet GOTY Edition (both incredible games) for $299 and an 120GB Elite XBox 360 with 4 unidentified games for $299.

They are robotic hamsters. I saw 5 different news stories about the damn things this week. I'm sure a live hamster would be cheaper, easier to get, and about as much fun.

Best Buy normally doesn't have great Black Friday deals on the Big Stuff, IMHO... however, they have a good deal on a Samsung Washer/Dryer - just need to see if Samsung's washer and dryer is as quality as their TV's... plus I saw some other deals on "little stuff" I want, like Flash Drives for my truck.

i've noticed that over the past couple of years.
they really push "insignia", their "house-brand".
people were walking out with loads of lap tops, dvd players and tvs of that brand last year.

at the Academy Sports and Outdoors DC I work for, we have gotten all of the Black Friday stuff packaged, wrapped and ready to be shipped out for he masses.....

The W/D got the JD Power award this year. I like my Maytags though, a little easier to use.

my chick wants more fiesta plate sets. we got four sets last year at bon-ton for $19 a set. she is hoping they do the same sale on them this year. it works out that i get out of work at 4am that day, so it will be easy to swing by if they are.

My wife will be out with my mom at 4am. I told her Target had 40" flatscreens for $450 plus you get $40 if gift cards back. Thats all I wanted her to get.

As far as I go, Me and boys meet up around noon for a day full of drinking, college football, table shuffleboard, gambling and brazilian strippers.

We call it Brown Friday.

I have to work this stupid day!!! I told my boss...please don't make me work early in the morning. I will be of no use to you. I can't get up early...ever. It makes for an ornery Gwen.

I rarely shop this day except maybe later in the day when the crowds have gone home and there are still some sales.

this xmas is going to be really held back on purchases. We aren't even going to start shopping until mid Dec so we aren't tempted to buy extra things. Our house is already busting out at the seams and grandmas and grandpas will spend tons of money on the kids. So they won't miss out by any means.
