Well, I was forced to see this with my wife and her mom at the IMAX 3D in San Francisco last night. I really can't stand anything Disney, or animated for that matter, so I was really not looking forward to it. But I was happily surprised to find myself really enjoying the movie. I think the IMAX 3D thing added sustantially to my experience, but I was shocked at how un-Disney the thing was. It's definitely a Disney flick, but there are no talking cutesy, anthropomorphic animals which scores huge points with me. They also followed Dickens' story pretty decently, retaining a lot of the grit, misery, and redemption. I've never seen an IMAX movie, much less a 3D one, but the movie looked gorgeous. In summary, I may be going a bit gay, but I liked it.

It's a Robert Zemeckis (who did Back to the Future, Castaway, and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, among others) film that Disney released, rather than a Disney film.
I don't know if I'll see it in the theater, but I'll definitely rent it. Don't spoil the ending for me...

I'm surprised they brought this out in November. They have the black princess movie coming out on December 6th. I think they should have reversed the release dates. I don't think too many people are in a Christmasy mood just yet. They might have done better to wait until a little closer to Christmastime.

This is piss poor marketing.
This movie will be out of theater in two weeks. It shouldn't have even OPENED until mid December.

My nephew turns 9 next week and wants to see it.
Since I took my niece to the movies last week he's begging me to take him too.
Is it OK for a kid that age or too scary?

Just take him to a midnight showing of "Debbie Does Dallas".
You'll be the coolest uncle ever.

I'd love to take my nephew but he's 4 1/2 and i don't think he would think anything of the 3D novelty.

I'm not a parent so I'm not quite sure which age would be appropriate, but my wife and I both remarked that it would be scary for some youngsters. Who am I to say? My parents had me watching Eraserhead when I was 5, and look how I turned out.
