One of my favorite studies, one of my old fav movies.

I think the trailer looks pretty great. Enjoying the music from the trailer too, specially since Muse will be involved with the soundtrack.

They are expanding the story, and ar planning on staying true to Ray Harryhausen's designs from the original. I thought I read somewhere that one extended part of the story involves Hades and entering/exploring Tartarus....which is awesome because that opens the possibility of some Cerberus action.

Lots of Greek God/Olympus movies coming out soon. Pretty stoked about Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief (http://www.percyjacksonthemovie.com/) (awesome series of books, and hopefully series of movies), and the possibility of God of War turning into a movie series.

The original is so bad, too. Yeah, there are the cool monster moments, but they're seperated by one of the most boring "epics" ever made.

This trailer is just plain goofy. What's with the music?

My other favorite of this type of movie is Jason and the Argonauts. Id love to see that given the real Hollywood treatment.

not sure actually. they showed quite a few.. the stingers may also be from the scorpions born from the blood from medusa's head in the bag...

And another thing about the people complaining about the music in the teaser...........Gladiator had a teaser with Kid Rock "Bawittaba" in it. Look how that turned out musically.

All the stingers they show are from the Scorpions. They do show Medusa's rattle/stinger near the beginning of the trailer.

I think it was a good idea to release a "teaser" like this with some pretty kick ass music. It got me pumped. Maybe cuz I am into this sorta thing. The cast alone is well worth going to see.

when i watch these types of movies (based on myths from the classical period) i have to remember to check my brain at the door. having a degree in classical studies, i have to remind myself not get worked up about the inaccuracies. :o

Yea same here (not the degree part). I tend to find myself picking apart war movies and mythology movies for inaccuracies a lot.

Ha!! I was thinking the same thing too...it would have of rocked if that came out in 1989. Now it is just plain silly, and you can see how they are somewhat going with the "300" style of movies with this. It looks cool...but you know they are just going to CGI the fuck out of this thing. Make it "improved." Why?

And yes, I noticed no owl too...and no stop motion.

I don't expect it to be Oscar level "Cinema," but it sure looks like an action-packed popcorn movie.

The original is a favorite from my youth, but I am more than willing to give this a shot. It can't possibly be worse than the remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still." Hell, the trailers for "Clash of the Titans" are already head and shoulders above it.

there's no way by watching that trailer you can have that take on it. its not "on the waterfront" but it does look like a good popcorn movie.

now i realize they probably shot their load with the trailer and the movie will be ok at best but you're just being way too cool for the room to watch that and think along the lines of "pffft. im SO over this already."

Yep.

This movie was all visual effects, zero emotion. Save your money. It might be cool when you're high watching at home, but it's just a mess. Felt very rushed. Might have made a cool TV mini series, on SyFy.

In fact the only part I actually sat up and gave a clap...

Was the owl cameo.

And Sam Worthington has now been in three big movies, none of them exceptional, and basically just plays the same guy. I can't see a difference in either Terminator Salvation, Avatar or this movie. He's a good go-to action guy I guess, but just doesn't have a presence needed to amp up these movies.

i was very disappointed with this movie. my sister was pleased with it and couldnt understand why i was so annoyed.

no bubo (the owl)
wtf was up with Io?
where was the ampitheatre guy?
what the hell was that rock guy?
Why did the 3 sisters, the harpies, AND the kracken have the same damned face?

why did they have to ruin a campy film that ive come to love with this mess?

and i was hoping they would take the owl with them :-/

i was underwhelmed. i wish i would have saved my money. the 3d wasnt very impressive either.

If you feel like you must see it, do not, I repeat, DO NOT, see it in 3d. A good chunk of the movie you didn't even need to wear the glasses. To top it off, they went a little heavy on the 3D effects during up close fighting scenes. Your eyes can't focus on the action, just these blurred bits flying around in front of your eyes.

I thought the movie was okay, too short for my liking and too much stuff cut out from the original that would have made this movie sooo much better.
