Not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone here, but fielding % is not a good way to judge defense.
Its not..
But if you watch Cano play, its hard to see a better D 2b when u combine range and arm..

That's just silly.
Next I'm going to hear from Yankees fans that Nick Swisher is better than Jason Werth due to stats from one season too.
Spoon is better at the blind Yankee hate than you are.
You do realize that Hudson is like on his 15th team.. and is getting up there in age..
Maybe he isnt as good anymore
And Btw..
Weeks is hitting ALMOST 70 pts lower than Cano..
and almost 100pts lower slugging..
No lineup can account for 70 pts. and 100pts..
Fail on the comparison..
Their on-base percentage is nearly the same. Remember batting average is a stupid statistic.
Also, I did say that Weeks should be in that category in another year at this pace.

08-01-2010, 06:24 PM
Choose any other fielding stat then.
Maybe the fact that Cano has turned almost twice as many double plays? Or his Rdrs? Range factor? Cause' they're all better.
Kevin was talking about his defense this year among other things so yeah, the stats from this year are kinda' a deciding factor.
Throw out names a little more carefully next time.

I'm sure the fact that Weeks has struck out 115 times as opposed to Cano's 46 is just a silly insignificant statistic as well.
Choose any other fielding stat then.
Let's look at UZR for 2nd base: (http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=2b&stats=fld&lg=all&qual=y&type=1&season=2010&month=0)
Orlando Hudson - 9.1
Robinson Cano - 5.8

This debate is still going on?
Chase Utley is the best 2nd baseman in baseball. Case closed.
You guys can move on now.
Chase Utley won the MVP? Oh wait, that was Dustin Pedroia
point is you can argue a bunch of guys.
And this year, no, Chase Utley is no where near the best 2nd basemen

Fine. Its a stupid number to throw around for "value" of hitting when we have much better statistics like On Base Percentage.

ill also add this to another arguement made in here. Someone said that the park doesnt effect batting avg?
Tell that to all the lefties that hit 30 points higher with the sox cause they figured out how to slap the ball off the monster for cheap hits.
Or tell it to all the guys on the mets who watch their fly balls caught on the warning track that would be HRs in Yankee and alot of other stadiums. Tell all the guys who hit 415 foot FLY OUTS to center in Houston, Detroit and Arizona. You are insane if you think the parks ONLY effect home runs.
Which by the way, when a park makes a ball a HR cause its an easy park, thats not a double at most other parks, its an out. So home runs also help your avg. Parks help or hurt everything depending on things.

Im sorry..
You can make that argument when they are 20 even 30 pts apart..
You can't do it when its almost 70pts.
Id rather have someone get a 388 on base with hits instead of doing it with walks.
And the Slugging is not even close.
Weeks isnt even in the same ball park.
Better lineup or not.

When you try to steal 2nd on Utley he tags you out, then takes the ball and punches you in the throat with it. Then when hes walking off the field he walks up to the camera and drops an F bomb on live TV, just because he can.
That makes him the best.

Look..
I agree that he plays in a great lineup, and there is an advantage to that.
Change the argument much? I added this to the discussion bc you claimed he was pretty much hands down THE BEST. I said a lot of his success and numbers (rbis, hrs and pitches he sees is due to his lineup/park factors as well). If you said he's having an all-star year, nobody including myself would have said shit. You claimed the best in the league, with only ONE argument...the guy having an off year too.
But you can't just dismiss a guys year just because of it.
Again, not dismissing but adding to the argument bc they are factors in any player's year/stats.
He excels in a ton of things that are not lineup related.
Like trade rumors until this year?
Like getting to good pitches like the one low and inside last night.
Yah, lefties are know to hate those low and inside pitches, ESPECIALLY those who hit 50% of their games in Yankee Stadium. Good point.
And his range and arm are prob the best in the game for a 2b.
Right, someone's head is full of yes-mo garbage commentary. Kay and Sterling have rotted ur fucking brain. I've been to two games this season vs the yanks (Toronto), and he was not given an error in both games on clearly booted balls. Usually they seem to reserve this shit for Jeter, but he's not the guy all biased fans and writers are pulling for the mvp vote this year is it.
Did i miss a few guys in my orginal assestment.. yea..
Understatement-O-THE-YEAR!
But was more to do with the moment than anything.
I'll be at the game tomorrow as well fully expecting to catch Arod's 600th so I can piss on it and sell it to the highest bidder. I know he'll hit it tomorrow bc I'll be there and hate it.

.996 is better than a .993
2 errors in 100 games is better than 3 errors in 80 games.
Again, ur hometown scoring is a joke day in and day out. I witness it every game I attend there, it's comical. Is Cano bad, not at all. Is you the best, HA! And his arm isn't even close to tops sorry. Fucking Tex is your GGlover that deserves it and every one anyone in that infield gets. Not sure how 13th in 2009 at -2.8 and 16th at -11.2 in 2008 adds up to 3rd, but hey, let's just use that math sure. Speaking of Rays pitching, I am so stoked Hellickson was called up. I've been following that kid forever. I have the feeling he is going to be a great one.

AJ pitched AWESOME tonight, and I got a hearty "fuck off/you" from him as he tossed a little long ball right near my right field seats before the game. Yankee fans just looked on in horror as I ripped on him, his past, his old band (Bad Ink with get this, Tim Spooneybarger) and his cheap title last year. Told him he should run to Philadelphia soon so he can pitch well again as Halladay's BITCH! Fuck you AJ.
On another note, nice to see Travis Snider finding his swing...but then again he is barely 22 right now. Hate fucking Swish too, but he does have fun with the fans out there as he barely makes the plays he should. Watching him field is quite fun.

I can only imagine what it would have sounded like if he'd called the game where Bobby Thomson hit the pennant-winning HR against the Brooklyn Dodgers, not Russ Hodges. Instead of "THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT!", he'd still have used whatever stale catchphrase he'd had for Thomson, like "THOMSON FIRES HIS TOMMY GUN!"
Except I'm sure as lame as my example was, Sterling's would be even lamer.

finished with 17 k's, 1 hitter. 137 pitches.
Romero, Marcum, Cecil, Morrow, Drabek is going to be a killer rotation for years to come.
Jays are a lot closer than people think to being a top team in that division. In fact, they'd be a top team in pretty much any other division in baseball.
I could see them jumping the Rays and Sox next season. Rays will take a step back losing Crawford and Pena. Sox need to reload a bit. They have a lot of money at their disposal so it won't take long, but it won't be immediate because they have to shed some age and contracts.

Honestly, baseball just needs a year in the next few where the Yankees just completely shit the bed...Rivera retires, Jeter's too old, Sabathia blows out his arm, A-Rod has any number of his litany of recurring injuries...
If the AL East gets that one season where the Jays make a run, the Rays are still good, maybe the Orioles come back with their young group they're growing (because they have some REALLY good, but very very young pitching prospect) and make a nice race, it'll revitalize Toronto and Baltimore's fanbases.
And with that, the landscape changes a bit, because both of those team will spend money when the teams are doing well, and the fanbases aren't as apathetic as they are right now.
And the very least, they need a Red Sox shit the bed year...and I mean, bottom-feeders....finishing third and six out is not shitting the bed enough.

First the record doubles game against AJ and the series win in NY.
Second the 8 hr game and first 4 pitches 4 hits (HR, double, single, HR) debut of JP Arencibia (#9 too, NICE) bombing of the Rays.
Now they have Morrow coming into his game and a few inches from a no-hitter with 17 k's to wrap up a series sweep.
I'm happy with the way things are going that's for sure. They still have a looming hole at first coming next year, so the Wallace thing is no less of a head scratcher right now.
Going to a MLB game tomorrow at KC to see the yankees. They are my AL team though I am a cardinals fan for life. I should of gone tonight with CC pitching but with my last semester at Mizzou I got to at least see the stadium this year. Should be fun....
BTW Cardinals will be at the world series this year. Good luck taking carp and wainwright down in a seven game series. We showed we are pros sweeping the reds this week. As long as suppan stays hurt its a wrap, though our bullpen scares me a tad...
Yankees/Cards would be a sweet series.
I mean the yanks are the AL team I root for.

Cards aren't going anywhere this year! I'm pulling for the Giants to make it, thought any NL team that goes is going to get clobbered by the AL!

I would of thought the same thing till I saw us destroy the Reds this week. We are for real and will be the Nl champs. See you in the post season. Wainwright for cy young and pujois with MVP or triple crown. Reds are the only thing stopping us from being in the series, with philips running his mouth he fired us up. Game over.
Everyone knows what wins championships and that is pitching. Thats how we beat Detroit and became world champons a few years ago. The same way we will do it this year. If Garcia gets his shit together it is a wrap, because Carpenter and Wainwright are guaranteed wins. Our bullpen just needs to tidy up.

Reds arent as good as any of the top 4 AL East teams (Jays included).
Let alone the rest of the top AL teams..

Tigers were not very good that year.
They barley made the playoffs and went on a crazy run.
They have not made the playoffs since.
You got smoaked by the Redsox .
Ok? Thats the AL. The AL as good but the only thing that matters is the 7 games we play against the AL.
I would like to play the yankess but we will see what happens, the cards are for real even without jockety as our GM.
If the Reds step up and beat us then I will be the fool, because thats the only way we wont be in the finals. It is an interesting few months. But the cards stepped up as of lately, I really think that philips sealed the reds fate, and thank him for his comments.

We did get smoked by the sox. But we came back and won a world title.
The world champs are the world champs, we would of beat boston just like we beat Detriot down, you should just be happy your gay kicker won the super bowl we let him win, or we would of had another title in the NFL.
I don't mean to be bitter about Boston. But number 1 I hate the gay ass Red sox. And I actually respect New England because they beat us in the Super Bowl when we had the best team. A fucking kicker beat us, wtg fags.
To even come at me like we didn't dominate the MLB that year is a bitch move by your part. Why don't you focus on your precious red sox not going on the DL every game. If we face the sox in the series you can consider it a miracle, I would think they would all be on the DL.

You did not have the pass rush.
Eli and Plax killed you.
Brady, Moss and company would have ruined you..
Wtf are you talking about. I am a Cardinals fan so that means I am a rams fam. Which means a real fan is pissed about that game where your faggot kicker beat us in the superbowl that was ours for the taking, after we won it a year before. I took offense for you standing up for the sox which beat us in the world series before we came back and won it.

Its cyclical.
You have era's where the NL is dominant, then the AL...
For almost two decades now, its usualy been the AL...
Aight we cool then. When the top AL team met the cardinals they got smoked even though it took us two tries. Sox fan should thank the cardinals for letting them win a title they didn't deserve.
I really hope the yanks meet the cards because I want to beat the best NL team. Not some scrubs like the tigers.

Though I agree that the younger Redsox fan probably is, and they have gained frontrunning bandwagoners since 04..
But Its just silly to question the better part of the Sox fan base..
They stuck with that team through 86 years of hell.
Not winning and watching your main rival win all the time..
Ya I am just playing. I would never question a true fan base. I been an STL fan since I was old enough to be, Blues, Cards, Rams.
But ever since the Sox beat us in the series and the patriots beat the Rams I have an intense hatred for both teams and will make up lies to disgrace them.
But I will make an exception for that black man in the utube video, because he is a true champion of any race.
Cardinals are coming this year and if the AL isn't ready it is ours for the taking. The NL isn't our goal we want the title and all that the reds did was wake us up and I thank them for it.

Ya the cards definently blew their chance. How hard is it to lay a bunt... We popped up 2 or 3 bunts in the last 2 innings sigh.
I thank Carpenter for making me look like a bigger dick, lol. At least we can blame that start on the fight last week.
I really am a bit worried about these pesky Reds though, since I don't think the wild card will work for the second place NL central team. We will see, fun baseball to come for both teams.

Why haven't they been drawing all year at the gate, though? They've been in or near first most of the season. The best crowds they've drawn all season, according to baseball reference, is the Atlanta series a couple weeks ago.
I take it the fanbase is still largely skeptical that they can pull it off?

Out of curiosity, I calculated the attendance percentages through last night for attendance.
MLB Total -0.9% for the season
Top five attendance gainers (by percentage)
1) Minnesota +35.4% (obviously because of the new stadium)
2) Colorado +8.5% (the Rockies aren't having their best season, but I guess putting competitive teams out each year is paying off)
3) Cincinnati +7.8% (ok, so they are showing up more, they're just not selling out games)
4) Texas +6.8% (pennant race)
5) Pittsburgh +6.5% (very surprising. I wonder if they've drawn better regionally from people in the New York, Philadelphia, Washington areas to see their teams when they play there, or maybe they just lowered ticket prices from year to year).
Top five attendance losers (by percentage)
1) Toronto -20.5% (ouch. the shame of it is, there's not much they can do to curb that big of a loss. The team will have another winning record. They can't spend themselves out of fourth place, because they're pretty well maxed out).
2) Cleveland -19.9% (looks like they've finally given up on the Indians rebuilding process. This should be very alarming to ownership, considering they sold out the first six seasons of Jacobs Field and now they can't drum up any interest in the team.
3) New York (N) -15.4% (Fans are voicing their disapproval with the Mets ownership and management. Whether it makes a difference this offseason...)
4) Baltimore -12.2% (they are the worst team in baseball. It'll be interesting to see how much this gap drops between now and then end of the season. Since they've gone on this Showalter winning streak, attendance has been up).
5) Kansas City -10.0% (like Cleveland, just apathy and disinterest. Tickets in Kansas City are dirt cheap too).
Arizona -1.8%
Atlanta +4.5%
Baltimore -12.2%
Boston -0.6%
Chicago (N) -3.5%
Chicago (A) -3.0%
Cincinnati +7.8%
Cleveland -19.9%
Colorado +8.5%
Detroit -4.3%
Florida -0.2%
Houston -7.0%
Kansas City -10.0%
Los Angeles (A) -0.6%
Los Angeles (N) -1.0%
Milwaukee -9.5%
Minnesota +35.4%
New York (N) -15.4%
New York (A) +1.4%
Oakland +2.7%
Philadelphia +1.5%
Pittsburgh +6.5%
San Diego +6.2%
Seattle -3.9%
San Francisco +5.1%
St. Louis -0.2%
Tampa Bay -5.1%
Texas +6.8%
Toronto -20.5%
Washington +4.4%
Jays sign Ricky Romero to a long-term extension.
2011- 750k
2012- 5 mil
2013 -7.5 mil
2014 - 7.5 mil
2015 - 7.5 mil
2016 - 13.5 mil (with a 600k buyout option)
They covered all of arbitration years and one of his free agent years, with an option on his second one.
It's a ballsy move. I've seen enough of Romero to figure that he probably will perform to, or above this contract unless he gets hurt. I don't really see him hitting a wall.

Yes, considering
Elbow tendinitis caused Slowey to miss his last start. Combine that with 106 pitches to get through seven innings and there was little chance of him throwing two more inningseven if he continued to hold the Athletics without a hit.

There have been nine combined no-hitters in history: (From Wiki)
Combined no-hitters
There have been nine combined no-hitters (no-hit games thrown by a starting pitcher and his relievers together) in MLB history. The first was on June 23, 1917, when Ernie Shore of the Boston Red Sox relieved starter Babe Ruth, who had been ejected for arguing with the umpire after walking the first batter of the game. The runner at first was caught attempting to steal second base, and Shore then consecutively retired the next 26 batters without allowing any baserunners. This game was long considered a perfect game by Shore, since he recorded 27 outs in succession, but is only a combined no-hitter under current rules. The second combined no-hitter did not occur until April 30, 1967, when Stu Miller recorded the final out in relief of Steve Barber.
The first, and only, combined extra inning no-hitter to date occurred on July 12, 1997, when the Pittsburgh Pirates' Francisco Cordova (9 innings) and Ricardo Rincon (1 inning) combined to no-hit the Houston Astros, 3-0. The extra inning no-no was capped off by a three run walk-off home run by pinch hitter Mark Smith in the bottom of the tenth inning.
The MLB record for pitchers combining to pitch a no-hitter is six, set by the Houston Astros against the New York Yankees on June 11, 2003. The pitchers were Roy Oswalt (the starting pitcher), then relievers Pete Munro, Kirk Saarloos, Brad Lidge, Octavio Dotel, and Billy Wagner. Oswalt was pulled after one inning because of injury. Munro pitched the most innings, 2⅔. He also allowed five of the six baserunners; three on walks, he also hit Jason Giambi with a pitch and another runner reached while he was in the game on an error by third baseman Geoff Blum. The other baserunner was allowed by Dotel, who threw a third-strike wild pitch to Alfonso Soriano with one out in the eighth; Dotel went to to record to 45th four-strikeout inning in regular-season play.[8] Lidge, who retired all six hitters he faced over the sixth and seventh innings, earned the victory when the Astros opened their scoring in the seventh.
Only one pitcher, Mike Witt, has thrown a no-hitter as a starter, and also contributed to a no-hitter as a reliever. On September 30, 1984, Witt threw a 1-0 perfect game for the California Angels against the Texas Rangers. Witt followed this on April 11, 1990, with an appearance in relief of Mark Langston after 7 innings, pitching the last two innings to get the save in another 1-0 win for the Angels over the Seattle Mariners.
Kent Mercker and Vida Blue are the only pitchers to throw a no-hitter as a starter and also start a combined no-hitter. Mercker combined with Mark Wohlers and Alejandro Peņa while pitching for the Atlanta Braves to no-hit the San Diego Padres on September 11, 1991. This was also the first combined no-hitter in National League history. He threw a complete game no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 8, 1994, also as a member of the Braves. Vida Blue no-hit the Minnesota Twins on September 21, 1970 while pitching for the Oakland Athletics. He combined with Glenn Abbott, Paul Lindblad, and Rollie Fingers to no-hit the California Angels on September 28, 1975. This is the only combined no-hitter that was started by a pitcher (Blue in 1971) who won a Cy Young award and MVP award in his career and finished by another pitcher that won the Cy Young award and MVP award in his career (Fingers in 1981). Both pitchers were also All Stars the year they combined for their no-hitter.

Yeah, somewhat so but it is getting better as we keep winning.
I think the Reds and Cards could be division and wildcard winners due to the fact our (Reds/Cards) combined schedules play against teams average winning pct. being under .500.

Jays about to close out another series win with a great 9th inning comeback! Let's see if they can pull it out.
Also, nice to see Cito is still senile using Tallet AGAIN in a tie game (2-2) last night. WTF Cito!? Really?! Even more bad news, Purcey out to the IR with Carlson and his awful batting practice pitch (his best) back in the pen. Now we have two worthless pieces of trash in the pen bc Cito thinks they are "gamers" and good guys. :wallbash:

Awesome, first cards game I go to this year, Wainwright loses his first game of the season at home. And gives up 3 runs. Cardinals almost came back in the 9th.
So after my drunken rant carpenter, garcia, and wainwright have managed to lose their next starts and get swept by the brewers. Maybe next year, the cards line up is fucking sad lately, we need a goddamn 3rd baseman...
At least the seats were amazing, sat about 10 rows back from homeplate.

I thought the Reds might be done after that ugly sweep from the Cardinals, with Brandon Phillips popping his mouth off, calling the Cardinals "little bitches", and a nasty bench clearing brawl. But they've won 6 in a row and have re-opened a 3 1/2 game lead. This is an impressive looking team.

Roger Clemens....INDICTED
Roger Clemens was vehement: "Let me be clear. I have never taken steroids or HGH," he told a House committee in 2008. Now, instead of the Hall of Fame, baseball's seven-time Cy Young winner could go to prison after being indicted by a federal grand jury Thursday for allegedly lying to Congress.
The case writes a new chapter in one of baseball's worst scandals, the rampant use of performance-enhancing drugs in the 1990s and early 2000s, and leaves Clemens' legacy in jeopardy.
The six-count indictment alleges that Clemens obstructed a congressional inquiry with 15 different statements made under oath, including denials that he had ever used steroids or human growth hormone.
The hilarious part of this story is that pretty much everyone on that committee was begging Clemens to just let them get a deposition in private, nice and quiet. But, no, this douchebag had to make public testimony, had to make his big "I ain't never done no steroids" speech. Congress hates when you do this shit.
And it doesn't appear that this moron has learned his lesson at all. It doesn't sound like he's going to take any sort of plea bargain -- this thing is going to trial, and it will probably end up with him going to jail for a few years. Federal prosecutors have a conviction rate well over 90%, and they don't put out an indictment this broad unless they think it'll stick.
It's kind of sad to see a guy who would rather go to jail than stop stroking his own massive ego. But, then again, it's not.

Not when he himself decided to go there to "clear his name" and fucking lied about everything. It isn't like they don't have time to dedicate to business and issues with it as MLB was/is a business that had criminal activity all around it.
Sorry Clemens, hope you fry simply based on the fact you think you're above the law and the rest of us are stupid. Everyone else is either an afterthought or a joke at this point, but you are a whole other category. With the exception of Barry too. The rest either came clean, faded into the night/hid or simply made some bs excuse that they used once for healing reasons or something like it(my personal fav). Barry and Roger need to be made examples of, simply so athletes (as in the Burress case) don't think they're above common law. Not to mention they're complete dicks and would have been HOF easily w/o the aid, just not to the level they are/were. I for one love the rivalry brewing here now and pretty much like the makeup of both teams. I wish, SO WISH, the Jays would just start hitting Yankees all over the place and start fights every fucking series. Make them fear playing us wins or not, that the hate is so big that they will drill any mother fucker in the back and run over any "legend" trying to block second or home on a close play. The sport needs this swagger back, but bc of team switching and hired guns MLB has no loyalty except to money. I'm loving that the Reds are showing some old time baseball grit and determination. Sweep, fuck that, we'll just win the next 5 series and take the lead.
However, that Card's rotation is fucking tight. Wainwright is still currently my NL Cy (come on Halladay) and Carpenter is a good old Jay of old pounding the strike zone. Rolen on Cincy was a fav of mine during his short stint in Toronto, and the team is matching his grit for an old man with a bad back and knees. The man can field, that much is for sure. And he's a pretty clutch hitter too. JP did right by him to trade him to his home area bc of fam issues, but he surely could have gotten better players in exchange...hence JP needed to go once again.

Doc didn't need it being where he was in age and he wasn't exactly a full-time pitcher in any capacity when Roger was there. In Roger's last year there (98 i think), Halladay pitched like 10 innings max. Halladay wasn't exactly a full-time starter until 2002. Until then, he went back and forth from the rotation, to the bullpen, to the minors. Although most of his work was as a starter in the majors/minors during that span. His arm angle and delivery was modified a few times over in that time-line. It worked.

That's a yes and no. It would have been tougher for someone else to get Andy to touch the shit, so it has some truth. But as you said, he ultimately had to give in and take the shit. I think Roger would have impact on a lot of pitchers at that point, especially another Texan who idolized him in the past.

The Pirates are guaranteed their 18th consecutive losing season.
It was last year that the Pirates became North America's only professional sports team to endure 17 straight losing years, meaning that until the Pirates break a skid that essentially began with Sid Bream's slide, they will only be adding to their own history.
"We have our bright spots, and then we have our days where we don't look like we belong on the field sometimes," starter Jeff Karstens said. "It's part of the growing pains that are going to go on here, probably for the rest of this year. Hopefully, they won't carry on past this year."
The club did stamp one new footnote to the streak this season, though, as the 2010 club reached 82 losses quicker than any other team in the 18-year span.
What a total disgrace of a franchise.

What? Here's where you lose me H, they made 14 and 15 million a year DUE to the small rev sharing. Without it, they're down pretty much the other way, actually more (-25 and -15 million respectively each year). So I guess you'd have them buy one Yankee like player at 10 mill a year and be in the red -30 to -25 million to win 7 more games and finish...oh yeah, last still? If anything, it shows the constraints this team is working with and how unfair the system is to lesser market teams at this point. Oh and the snowball is rolling down the snowy hill fast as you can see, with the haves in mlb like in life making that gap even bigger. I'm sorry, this only solidifies my views on this stupid fucking league.
Pitt has pretty much two choices, spend more, finish last and lose money or what it is doing and actually make a profit. I know which way I'd go, bc it's still a business. In fact, they easily put more of a percentage of their business back into the team/stadium/organization compared to most big market teams, the playing field just slants in a big way toward big market/money teams right now. It shows, but they'll have their first rounders all come up and make noise one year and all the people on the other side of the fence will once again yell money means nothing...and 5 years later they'll all be elsewhere.

You're profiting 15 million dollars a year and putting it in your pocket, not investing back into your team. Why buy only one player with 15 million dollars? You could get several for that price.
So they have two choices, spend more and finish last or do nothing and finish last? How does that make any sense? They've had a losing season for 18 straight years, its time to change up you philosophy at this point.

So you're telling me that spending 14-15 million is going to put the Pirates on top?! OK sure thing. To them, they're actually in the red minus the rev sharing, so they can't just assume 30 mill is coming in until they actually have it. As of mid/late 90's, they went into protect the franchise mode by getting a new stadium to draw some fans and try to put a team together on the cheap and hope for contention, but at least keep the team afloat. If they spend and not contend, which is easily what would happen, they probably lose the fucking team in the end.
And the point was spending 10-15 million more won't do jack shit in the grand scheme of this team, not just one player (i just used it as an example bc that's a low level contract on the yankees).

But just maybe, spending that $14.5 million two straight years and getting some decent guys would maybe help them finish above .500. what a nice treat treat for fans, not seeing a losing season for once. You wanna dump salary after that and get greedy again so you can have your $15 million in your pocket? Fine, but do right by your fans for once. Let them enjoy a winning season.

It's one hell of a Cy race in the NL, but I think Halladay took the lead for the first time this year after Wainwright's loss last night to the Pirates and back to back 0 run efforts from Roy. Tonight is another big moment in the race, as Roy takes the soggy mound in Philadelphia with the lead in Era, K's, Innings, Shutouts, Complete Games and Walks Against...second in Wins unless he ties it up tonight.
Others in the race, and there are many, Hudson, Carpenter, Jiminez and arguably some more. I put Wainwright and Halladay in the driver's seat in this race due to how deep they go and yet they still are tops in era and whip. Not as easy in the 8th and 9th as it is when you only go 5-6 as some others in the race.

Wainwright has dropped is last TWO starts. Really noone to blame in those games but him with, we at least gave him some runs last game. I am worried he might be fading away if he doesnt end strong. Fucking Jose Bautista. I dropped him back in June when he went on a short slump.
I did the same with Carlos Peņa. Who then went on to hit a HR almost every day for about a week.

I heard Don Legrequa ( sp ??? ) going on about how the Clemens thing could turn bad for Petitte as there may be some dirt not yet revealed that Clemens' defense team is going to reveal.
What bothered me was how he was making it sound like Petitte was this so guy beyond reproach because he opened up about his " mistakes ".
He seems to forget that the only reason Petitte opened up was because he was busted. It's not like he volunteered his information prior to getting caught.
I will give him credit for admitting it once it was out, instead of spinning the story, but I'm not accepting this guy as a hero of any kind.

You cockroaches are really trying to pin Pujols on steroids???? please tell me I read that wrong.
But ya La Russa is a good old boy, whats the big deal for real, everyone in the game was doing it if you werent you werent trying to win. I was in the stadium to see mcguire jack number 70 and it was well worth it.
Pushing the limit and not getting caught is an art. I am not proud of this but I cheated on my this econ 3029 summer final because the teacher was dumb enough not to mix up the tests. I went from C+ to an A-, unprececedented. Now there are certain situations when the honor code stands with friends/golf and the sort but not in professional competion.
You pussies complaining about how new england videotaped some dbags, who gives a shit. It's a game I want my team pushing the limits of legality out there if I am going to pay money to see a game.

In serious though man that must be tough having a handicapped kid. No matter what dbag is trying to bring a spotlight to it, Pujols has been a stand up guy from his first year to the present. Try to bring his ass down.

Actually, Pujols does a ton of donations and charity work for the mentally impaired and is a really good guy in that regard! Maybe he thought Beck was genuinely retarded and wanted to help him out!

Not to mention Hill has an outside chance to do it this year as well in a HORRIBLE year for him. I doubt it bc he's only in the mid 20's and he simply is off this year, but just to put it out there.

Welcome to what did espn or someone else tell Kevin in his jaded myopic Yankee Universe world.
Compiler my ass. He played only 2 more years than Mariano and has 45 more saves playing the bulk of his career in fucking SAN DIEGO. You know, that mlb power house out there suffering in Norv Turner country. Also, in 93/94 (the two more years he has over Mo) he only recorded 25 saves jumping bt teams. I think him not winning has a TON to do with the teams he's been on, and would surely had a different image if he sold out like CC (among so many others) and went to the team where douchebags go to claim titles that are lost in lesser markets. I give him credit for sticking it out and trying his best to do it somewhere else.
Fucking Kevin. :wallbash: If this were the SATs, Mo is a compiler too I guess right?
