They were the rage in the 60's and 70's, whatever happen to Duncan Yo-yo's?
I was cool, I had the "Butterfly" model, not the cheesy "glow in the dark" models, and I was pretty good with it, "rocking the cradle" and "walking the dog" LOL!

I was never good at yo-yo's.
I could do the around the world (very open area).
Walk the dog.
Space ship - (couldn't always get it to come back up though) LOL..
Butterflies were cool. I remember teachers confiscated them and water guns in class.

Duncan YO-Yo's are great.. i suck at it but it is always fun trying to just make up a trick that will never work... Duncan usually advertises during the holidays but i did not see one this year...
The average American consumes close to 24 gallons of beer per year.

Jaft, teachers confiscated EVERYTHING! LOL
Let's see:
pea shooters
comic books
kazoos
gum
exploding caps
Magazines
those metal clicking things
candy
slingshots
That's about it for now. My Mom and Dad always bought home a bag of my stuff after parent-teacher meetings..I would hide.

When I was a kid, the world champion yo-yo dude came to the Woolworth's 5&10 in my town and held a competition. I came in third and won a crappy "Duncan" T-Shirt. I was so crushed. I don't know what I was thinking using my "Imperial" instead of the "Butterfly" for the "Sleeper" trick. DAMN!
Oh, and this is the official, classic, early 1970's psychadelic butterfly yo yo:

My yo-yo's of my childhood. I still have my Midnight Special somewhere, but the Wheel was my favorite.

another kids toy I could never do was that stupid paddle ball. Hit it once maybe twice then throw it across the room.. only kidding.
Does anyone remember those two giant marbles on a string connected to a ring toy. I remember it made a lot of noise. It was a clacker or something.

Gvac, one time that "Champion Guy" came to Brooklyn, and we were all excited. However, his first stop was in Bed Stuy, where his van was broken into..he never made it to Bay Ridge! LOL

Yup,
Loved the purple/speckled one...
I was just happy if I could get a good spin for a bit and then retract...
This may be another topic, but the spinning top was big then too... Had the little ball bearing on the tip...
Dude, we gotta hang out one night...
